In need of help please! I need a/some skirts that have stretchy and wide waistbands

I have a chronic pain condition which means that my stomach is very tender, and can swell up (so attractive 🤣) but I am going on holiday in May and need some summer clothes. I could do with some mini type stretchy skirts or any length actually apart from knee length. Not in black, or purple, but most other colours are fine. Also any comfy trousers that come with a wide stretchy waistband. I live in my exercise legging because of the comfort of the waist bands, and dresses, but would like to try some skirts and maybe some harem pants or something? Hoping you can help me, I'm very out of touch. I'm 43, 5'5" pretty curvy and usually dress fairly classically, but I'm open to ideas. Need to be able to order online as don't often get to a town to go to the shops.

Hi @Swifey40, we're just giving your thread a bump in case anyone's around to give you some suggestions. Smile

Nydj · 24/01/2022 17:21

It’s not a skirt but how about something like these kaftans?

Nydj · 24/01/2022 17:24

Also some of these skirts from uniqlo have an elasticated waistband

Swifey40 · 24/01/2022 17:24

Thank you DawnMumsnet here's hoping!

Thanks Nydj that's very kind of you. I would probably wear that as a cover up on the beach but maybe not out and about. Its so cheap though, I will get one for the beach.
I don't necessarily want to cover my body up? It's actually quite nice 🤣 and I do suit fitted things too, just not inelastic round the tummy area!

I absolutely love Superdry and House of Masaba for clothing like this. HoM is an Indian designer label that does free delivery to the UK.

Snag tights do skirts which might work for you

Have a look at maternity skirts, trousers and shorts even, they aren't all giant oversized shapes with extra fabric where a bump would be, lots are 'normal' clothes with soft deep stretchy waistbands you can fold down/over.

Rina66 · 24/01/2022 20:36

I have a few of these, they also come in plain colours....

The waist is a wide piece of comfortable black elastic. I wear with trainers, boots and heels at night, jumpers/T-shirts during the day and cami/biker jacket at night.

Monsoon do a lot of elasticated skirts.

babyboyHarrison · 24/01/2022 20:44

Maybe this one?

I know you asked for skirts but these trousers have a lovely soft waistband that folds over so you can adjust it to suit.

Just read as well @Swifey40 that
you want trousers too - definitely try magic trousers, they are amazing.....I've got them in all colours, including white - which ordinarily I'd never ever wear.

I have a similar issue and find that jersey dresses are helpful so there is not pressure on my tummy.
