Never high waisted enough??

Polecat03 · 22/01/2022 17:47

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone else shares this issue - I think I must have a long torso.

High waisted jeans and trousers never sit at my smallest point, my natural waist. At best, they cover my belly button, but the narrowest point of my waist is a good inch or two higher than that.

I've been trying to educate myself a little about cuts and measurements to remedy this, and from what I can gather, most high waisted garments have a 12 inch rise - that's the rise from crotch to waistband.

I've tried searching for higher than this but getting no where. Most brands don't even list specific measurements like that.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Any brands or specific pieces that worked well?

I'm short of leg, typically 28 inseam. Waist must just sit abnormally high....

The ASOS farleigh jeans arrived. They are definitely the highest-waisted ones I’ve tried and they do up in exactly the right place for my waist.

I’m not sure I’ll keep them though: the overall shape doesn’t quite suit. I don’t know if I’m just not feeling the “mom jean” style, or if it’s that in order to fit over my gut I’ve had to order sizes which don’t fit well on my shallow bum and skinny legs, but either way I’m not sure they look good!

But they’re definitely excellently high waisted so a great tip for someone with a better body than me!

@ladygindiva

I've just bought a pair of high waist jeans from George at asda and they really are super high and the only jeans Ive ever found that actually start at my waist. 7 quid in the sale, delighted.
I bought some yesterday and agree, they were really high.

Topshop are also good, but now online only.

NotImpossible · 24/01/2022 15:31

I have a similar leg length and have recently sold on some Toast trousers I got on eBay because the waist was way too high on me, and I like a high waist (the leg length was perfect). I don't know the name of the styles though, sorry. They were amazing quality.

NotImpossible · 24/01/2022 15:33

If it helps at all, the current M&S Mom jeans sit on my waist nicely, the Toast trousers were a good couple of inches higher!

Lightstoobright · 24/01/2022 15:38

I think I have this exact same issue. I'm 5"4 with 30 inch leg and my natural waist is about two inches above my belly button. Most high waist jeans just about cover my belly button. I've given up to be honest.

Lightstoobright · 24/01/2022 15:38

Can someone link to the george Asda jeans?

waitingforsun · 24/01/2022 17:05

@FidoRido if you ordered different sizes to try go for ones that seem slightly too small to start with. The give quite a lot after a few wears and washes and quite literally mould to your shape. I love mine!

FidoRido · 24/01/2022 17:35

waitingforsun ooh thank you, that’s a good tip. I may exchange for the size down then.

TheCanyon · 24/01/2022 18:55

i recently bought hollisters high waisted flare jeans that came right up to my bra, which is 14" apparently.

Polecat03 · 24/01/2022 23:49

@thecanyon, ohh, would you be able to link that particular pair?
I'm looking on their website now, they have quite a few - high rise and some called 'ultra' high rise. Interesting they offer short leg length too, I wonder if they could actually fit my waist and leg. That's the dream!

TheCanyon · 25/01/2022 07:55

@Polecat03 Thats why I love hollister for the lengths, they always actually fit! The American ones are actually a better fit for me.

These ones I could literally tuck my bra into,

And bought these ones to see if the fit the tiny waist/wide hip gap better, they were right up to my ribcage.

Fwiw I hate high rise jeans too but there wasn't any low rise in stock at the time. Also pay by PayPal as they charge a fiver for delivery and a fiver to return, that way you can get return postage back via PayPal.

Kittykate15 · 25/01/2022 21:23

Me too! 5'7 but 30inch legs, all my length is in my torso (not helped certainly by my size 18 arse!) I'm hourglass shape so high waisted should be perfect but most I find I still can't bend over in without a builders bum!!! Will look up some of these recommendations thanks, good luck in the search!

ZaZathecat · 26/01/2022 21:56

M & S Harper cigarette jeans. I tried them on and the waist was far too high on me.

I have these and they're perfect on me at 5ft 10 Also like M&S magic skinny jeans
70sDuvet · 31/01/2022 22:13

Oasis Scarlett jeans are 13.5" rise

PaleGreenGhost · 01/02/2022 13:03

Thanks for the recommendations here. I've bought the M&S cigarette jeans and the Asos Farleigh. Both size 14 and both have 15 inch rise. The M&S are fab, although are a teeny bit like skinny jeans still on my huge thigh muscles. Definitely keeping though. The Farleigh, although the exact same size when laid flat, have no stretch & feel a bit tight at the waist. The size up - 34 inch - way too big though. I think non stretch jeans need to do the half sizes.

Just to say, the 15 inch rise still isn't crazy high on me. Covers my belly button and an inch or so below my natural waist. But doesn't look especially high, iyswim.

waitingforsun · 02/02/2022 21:11

@PaleGreenGhost the Farleigh jeans give a lot after a few washes and wears. I almost didn't keep mine cause I thought they were too small but they fit really well now. I have blue ones and black ones :)

chunkyBUTTsdonotlie · 02/02/2022 21:21

I have this issue, but a 33 leg I usually buy M&S high waisted Jeggings in a long ( but still a tad ankle swingy on me) or I used to buy Joni from top shop pre kids. Ha now M&S elasticated !!!

PerkingFaintly · 02/02/2022 22:00

Oh this is definitely the thread for me!

Off to check some of these.

sparkle17 · 15/02/2024 16:03

I know this is an old thread but I found people with the same problem as me!

Has anyone found any gym leggings with a good high waisted. They all cut in below my belly button which I'm keen to avoid.

Peloton cadent leggings
I'm 5ft 10, they're incredibly stretchy and pull up to my bra band if I want
Don't buy full price as they always have a sale
Linked a pair but search cadent on the site and they all come up

lindyloo57 · 15/02/2024 16:45

Just came on to say m&s in short are definitely shorter in the rise, I need the short leg but not the shorter rise, so I have to buy the standard leg to get the rise but have the legs shortened. Its a nightmare, I give up on m&s jeans, I buy levis in the sale.

ladygindiva · 15/02/2024 19:42

Prompted by this thread ive just gone to purchase a pair of levi straight leg ribcage jeans which are on sale on their site ATM. They look lovely. Available in 27,29, and 31 length. According to the blurb, the model in the pics is 5'10 and wearing 27 x 27.... What fucking length am I, a 5'2 supposed to buy then??? Come on Levi's, get your act together.

tutttutt · 15/02/2024 19:57

Do you have a big butt? Big butts fill pants out more so pull them lower. Mid rise end up low rise. Low rise end up crack revealing.
