Advice on a designer handbag

I am thinking about getting a Chanel WOC and wanted opinions from those who have one about its durability, and usefulness. I would go with the classic caviar leather in black with the gold hardware. I don't think I want a bigger bag as I have other bags that are in the same category, size wise, as the classic double flap.

This would be my first Chanel purchase and would be treat for myself as I am in the middle of a difficult pregnancy. But, with their price increase, I just want to make sure that the bag is worth it and will hold up well.

Thanks so much!

I have a WOC (caviar) but tend to use for evening or when I know I literally only need a card and absolute essentials as I’m not very good at streamlining. A WOC saver definitely makes a difference in both capacity and maintaining the shape. If you’re interest in pre-loved I can recommend npnbags.co.uk - Shian is brilliant. Worth checking out her website as she takes excellent photos of all her stock, no WOCs on there at the moment but some beautiful Chanels…sigh

I Wouldn't be without my woc saver, it just make the bags so Much more usable!

Also meant to say if you are buying Chanel now keep the receipt!

They are not doing the little holographic tag inside the bag anymore it's a chip that they can scan to identify it's authenticity and, as someone said they can see how many bags you've bought from them.

LV are also doing this now too and I think it's To discourage the resale market as it's harder to authenticate the bags. If you ever needed to sell on your need then keep the receipt to prove provenance.

@sansucre you are welcome! Smile so cheap to buy and such a good idea, you won't know your little bag with one of those in!

Op I was wondering if you've looked at Chanel 19 wocs? They are quite expensive as wocs go but if you are a fan of the 19 style then the woc is a good compromise if you dont Want to go to the price of a standard 19.

I had one but sold it as it was black and I don't really do black bags. It was beautiful though and I didn't mind as I have a couple of 19's.

Watching loads of you tube videos is such a good idea. So many vloggers upload great informative videos that show what can for in and sometimes they do an update as to how they are doing after a year Ect.

Do let us know when you've decided? I got another woc for my 50th at the end of this month and I love it, no more bags for me this year though so I can live vicariously through everyone else's purchases Wink

I've attached a photo of my 'significant birthday' woc for any Chanel fans 😍

Its held up beautifully, I love the lambskin, really love it but was so scared that it would get scratched easily. I really want another one though so might risk the delicate lambskin next!

I went to the Chanel store near where I am right now (non UK country) and they have a 9 month weight list for the black WOC! I did put my name on the list as I am here a lot but will be looking in the Chanel stores in London when I am back home. I did see the Reissue size medium and I loved it. Very understated and the leather felt very nice. I am just a bit put off by the price. I may try to find a pre-owned one.

I was able to look at the WOC in silver and I did like the length of chain. I think I would like to get the black one new from Chanel for the experience. I did get the direct number of the SA who helped me so will check back with him from time to time about the bag.

@rosewater20 I really like the silver WOC but it looks almost two tone on the website, does it in real life?

These are some of my collection. My advice to you with regards caviar vs lambskin would be to think of what you would use the bag for. Lambskin is far less forgiving for everyday and does scratch easily if not very careful, it is beautiful though. I have a few caviar bags, and they are bombproof compared to lambskin, for example the GST i have in caviar is great for everyday.

My first Chanel was a black caviar woc and I love it. A woc saver definitely gives you so much more space. Last week I bought a medium classic flap also In black caviar with GHW. So much money, but I was offered one just before the last price increase and declined, so I wasn’t making that same mistake again! I will warn you that Chanel is a slippery slope and I’m already eyeing up another!

As said above a mini flap is good value and really holds its resale value. They only come in lambskin now. I also really like the trendy and love the trendy woc!

Be warned it can be hard to find much stock in store and it comes down to a lot of luck. I was delighted to be in Heathrow and they had none in stock, but that days delivery arrived and my dream back was in it!

Good luck and enjoy the hunt!!!

Hello :) Hope I am not too late ! I have rather a few handbags and must say of all, the WOC is hardest to use (in my opinion only). I can JUST about get my phone in and not much else. I have a couple of them and only really use them on holiday when I'm carrying very little for dinner etc.

I have caviar and lambskin. Surprisingly the lambskin is in better condition (my large lambskin jumbo is NOT) but my WOC held up well.

I would really suggest just having a look around at some of the smaller flap bags, rather than WOC - just for general ease of use. I have a couple of small flaps that are the perfect size for going out with, and are pretty much the same size as a regular clutch elsewhere...

@rosewater20 and just to add, the HEWI (hardlyeverwornit) and vestiaire collective have a great selection of never used chanel WOCs and bags for sale without the wait list :)
