Thinking of giving one to my sons girlfriend who will be 22. Is it an ok present for this age group?

@Youaremypenguin

I would love one but always worry about face cream and a silk pillowcase. I wear it everynight and have very dry skin so I use quite a lot.

I'd love it as a gift though

You may find you don’t need to use as much face cream. Other pillowcases absorb it.

I won’t be without mine and take it with me when I travel. I use 2 pillows so put the pillow that matches my bedding on top and then swap them when I get into bed.

I’ve bought them as presents

I'd say it's risky if you don't know her very well - I know there are many people who have issues with the ethics of silk production. Just something to consider.

I would love a silk pillowcase

I got one for a friend for her birthday a few years ago, she loved it and then got her mum one for her next birthday.

We have two pillows each so just have them in white and then stick them behind the other pillow that matches the duvet when making the bed.

I'd just go with it op. If in doubt get a gift receipt.

Yes!!

Lost a bit of text.

19 yo DD thinks hers was "the best present ever":

Yes, lovely idea. I have one, and bought one for an older teenager, for Christmas, too.

Agree about checking vegetarian/vegan/silkworm-friendly produced silk.

Phrenologistsfinger · 17/01/2022 13:29

If she is vegan/veggie then it’s a no to silk. I would not want that as a gift! I’d even feel iffy about ‘ethical silk’ tbh.

@UpDownRound

Surely you then have one pillow that doesn't match your other ones? I've wondered this for a while but suspect I must be missing something!
I have one (and spares for when it's in wash) and it means I have no "lion" hair when I wake and no crinkly face - I am 53 mind - have used for about 18 months - I put it underneath my "top " pillow when I make the bed - top pillow has matching pattern to duvet cover - I sleep with 2 pillows and silk One is the one I sleep on

Like others have said at 22 depends if she's into beauty etc but if she is I think it's a lovely gift

I was given one as a present and liked it. If my sister had been given it though for example it wouldn't have gone done so well. So I think it depends on who you are buying for.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 17/01/2022 20:19

I bought some as Christmas presents but returned them as they didn’t arrive in time and I had to get something else. Could anyone share the ones they got that were good quality and well received? There’s so many out there.
