Long hair in the cold weather... static and knots!

Does anyone else find this? This current cold snap my hair is all static-y and weirdly fly away, and if I'm wearing a scarf it gets horrible knots..almost matted (which as I am out walking the dog several times a day, is a total pain)
Is there anything I can do to stop the static and prevent the knots? I can't tie it on the top of my head as it won't fit under a hat!

My static is bad too, I’ve seen online swiping a tumble dryer sheet over your hair can help, I’ve never tried it though!

I just plait mine and use a silk scrunchie

I like the silk scrunchies too; I make a bun and then tie a silk scarf/square over my head if my hair is looking particularly rough, or if it's just been washed. It seems to calm the flyaway bits down Smile
