'activewear' that you can wear to the shops

hey all, I'm nearly 50, slim but 5 foot, big boobs.

I need some clothing idea for gym stuff that isn't too 'gymy''. My ideal would be to have an outfit that I can exercise in at home, but also go out for a walk in. Needs to be a sports bra but not a boob squashing one. Don't fancy walking around in leggings.

Plus petite friendly. Any suggestions?

Watching with hope!

I've found all the not really boob squashing sports bras for bigger busts aren't ones that can be worn as 'sportswear', you need to have a proper top over them.

Yeah ! The plan is to get up and get shower, put on activewear, work a bit, do some exercise then be Ok to pop out.

At the moment I put on manky workout clothes, do excursive, faff about having a shower then it's already 3pm.

On Pilates days, I put on leggings and t-shirt, then a jumper and a pull on kneelength tube skirt (ancient, from Hush) or cargo shorts to walk the dog, then go to class. After which I might go to the supermarket, or into town, so either an anorak or a nice coat and scarf. But I'm 65.

for gym wear you can try flare pants and Aria racer bra tops which is comfortable as you needed , it goes well for petite ones.

I like the Sweaty Betty Gary Yoga Pants for this. They are a jogging bottom style, rather than a legging but they have a fairly slim cut and are made of a proper ‘sports’ fabric which doesn’t make me feel as though I am wearing loungewear at the gym but I also don’t feel like I am wearing gym kit at the supermarket.
They also do them in a fleece but I keep those ones for lounging or winter walks.

I agree about Gary yoga pants. I've worn them out for the evening with heels. They're ace. But I am the opposite of your body shape OP - tall, long legged and small of boob!

Surely after exercising you’d be all sweaty? Yuk to wearing exercise gear all day.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 04/05/2022 08:06

What exercise are you doing? Is it something that needs a high impact bra, or something like yoga? Will you get sweaty?

ArabeI · 04/05/2022 08:16

Popping to the shop, or even for coffee or something to eat (casual!) after classes. I usually wear some sort of hoody jacket or throw-over top, with thumb holes, over what I'm wearing. If I'm wearing lycra shorts, or tights, depending on what sort of class I've done, I'll put something like power leggings over the top.

I only usually wear crop yoga leggings but intrigued by the Gary yoga trousers.

Amelion · 04/05/2022 08:26

What sort of exercise are you doing as that might impact recommendations (like what impact sports bra, or something tight or loose?)

I’d look at Sweaty Betty and Lululemon. They both have good options, Sweaty Betty has the Gary trousers but also some nice wide leg trousers and flared leggings for example. But some might not be suitable for your type of exercise.
