Help! Sartorial emergency - black tie event at New Year and nowt to wear

My lovely hubby has just informed me that the house party we are going to for New Year's Eve is black tie. He is currently up in the loft trying to find his DJ which he hasn't worn for 5 years and is probably too small for him! I have nothing at all vaguely evening-dressy to wear. The thought of hitting the shops is terrifying. Think I could get anything mail order delivered in time? Must be cheap as I am skinty skint skint. Any ideas oh wise ones? I am a size 16 and erm, curvy, I have big norks and upper arm paranoia. Thanks in advance - I always forget to say thank you but am always eternally grateful for any responses to my posts!

I wore this dress in the red to a party last week and got so many compliments. I wore it with silver shoes and a silver shrug. Dont know if you would need a longer dress, but Littlewoods will deliver quickly as well.

Do you live near a Monsoon branch?
The sale starts on 27th apparently and Monsoon has the best choice of evening wear on the high st IMO and the clothes are cut well for curves.

Wait for the sales. I found a couple of online stores for gents that do suits from £70. Cant remember the site address but I was looking for a friends who is a very large gent.
Ebay usually has some real bargains in evening wear from people clearing out their wardrobe.

Monsoon dresses often on ebay (though much same price as the sales) but it helps to know what suits you by trying on first IMO.
Hope you find sth gorgeous!

Thanks, really can't face the shops, long drive, and two small kids to cart around. Have ordered the dress Orange Elephant suggested, thanks, it looks nice and great price. Have ordered both red and black as not sure what will suit my colouring - delivery by next friday which should be fine (assuming it fits - have ordered in two different sizes to allow for post Christmas bloat!)I just need a shrug now but am having trouble finding one. Debenhams have loads but they quote 2 weeks for delivery. Fancy something in black, sequinny, which fastens at the front. Anyone?? Also need some cheap black heels, preferably with a closed toe but strappy would be nice. Off to do some more web shopping...should be wrapping presents....

Again try Monsoon they have lots of shrugs, if not Principles, both do on line ordering, Monsoon sale app on 26th not 27th and Principles already on so you should make it!
