Doing some camping/hiking this year.

I'm vain and not athletic but not too overweight. I'll be out of my comfort zone so want some good quality kit that is also flattering is that possible?? Prepared to spend money on boots and coat (longline).

What should I get?

Boots? I saw Meghan's kamik boots but don't think they're hiking boots?

Trousers? Leggings (showerproof/fellow lined) seem to be in?

Coat? Want longline waterproof to cover bum and thighs

Please help!

Has anyone had the Merrell WRAPT waterproof boots? I am looking at them online and like the look of them but wondering if anyone has any experience of them in real life?
Are they heavy?
Thanks!

when I did hiking I just went to an outdoor shop, picked up a pair of hiking boots (Craghoppers?), also a padded jacket for if it was cold and then a pack a mac type thing (lilac) which folded up. I also had some sports leggings which were warmer than normal leggings but didn't want to get anything proper hiker that way.

Warm gloves, hats, heat pads which you warm in microwave - these all came in handy.

Need to get back hiking really.

@borntobequiet

Also agree that thick leggings are preferable to trousers.
Yes, this. I wore some Primark fleece lined leggings and they were great - especially when it was icy cold wind.

I love the hiking look. I hike lots and feel most like my self in hiking clothes.

Do you have an Ellis Brigham near you? I went to one and had a hiking boot proper fit. They scan your feet, look at your gait etc, and then get you to try on a few pairs of boots to get the best fit. After doing this, and hiking for days up mountains, I'd never buy a pair of boots any other way.
