suit "classic" styles but spend my life in mud and muck. What should I wear?!

Please help me. I am an average height size 12ish hourglass who suits classic style clothes, smart style jeans and trousers, slim fitting tops etc. But I am spend my life fixing things and making things (indoors and outdoors) and basically getting covered in crap and ruining all my nice clothes. I have a boiler suit now to minimise the worst of it but does anyone have any suggestions for hard wearing clothes which are smart too or am I looking for rocking horse poo? I am hoping to start building a capsule wardrobe and can probably spend up to £150 on an item of clothing which would actually work or maybe a bit more if it was really versatile. Coats are sorted.

In your situation I'd wear work wear/utility wear and only change into nice clothes once your work is finished

I do my muddy dog walk, garden work in any old stuff, and then get changed into something nicer after

I tend to get distracted by fixing stuff at any random point in time, hence the ruined clothes. Maybe I just need to accept that my style aspirations just don't suit my lifestyle at the moment and lean into the comfy utility wear.

I have clothes I wear out and separate clothes for dog walks/ lounging at home/ working from home (own business, messy). Protects my proper clothes from damage which means they last much longer. I understand OP as I wish I could just wear pretty clothes all the time, but then I like the fact that when I do wear my nice stuff it always looks as good as new. I must admit I don’t really feel like ‘me’ in my loungewear stuff

Could you just keep a smart apron on hand for messy jobs? www.toa.st/collections/aprons-tea-towels
