I'm on a mission and have bought what I liked from Playfulpromises.com but any other suggestions? I'm 38GG

I’m no help, just bumping and following for inspiration! I’m a 30JJ and can barely find a bra that is supportive and comfortable. If I found one that actually looked nice I would be astounded.

Bravissimo

I'm not sure what you mean by sexy but there's loads in your size here www.brastop.com/collections/38gg-bras?page=4

Eesha · 31/12/2021 22:56

@wonderspread I like playfulpromises.com but their returns process is dire and I've twice had to chase refunds which they say have 'slipped through the net'. But the underwear is pretty and sexy but pricey.

Onwards I go!

Thanks @Eesha they don’t seem to do my size (woe is me!) but I’ll keep on my quest to find more than the one bra I can comfortably wear Grin and will keep checking anything that gets shared!

The original and best

Rigby and Peller

Enjoy.

Not cheap but ewa michalak - polish brand, fabulous support and they do everything from sensible to outrageously sexy. They will have some 30JJ listed but they also custom so anything that shows in similar/sister type sizes they'll do in that size too.

It's slim pickings when you're a 28/30 band and over a GG though, I sympathise (similar size here)

I’m not sure how big they go but I love the vintage styling of Kiss me deadly.

Im a 36F ( was a G) and have found lingerie at Bravissimo, Figleaves and Boux Avenue ( not necessarily the most comfortable)

Roominmyhouse · 01/01/2022 00:35

I like the brand Freya. They sell it in various places like brastop and bravissimo.

Divebar2021 · 01/01/2022 00:43

Freya is lovely - flattering and colourful

wonderspread · 01/01/2022 02:28

Ooh @StatisticallyChallenged thank you! It’s worth a go, I will check it out. Yes, small bands and larger cups are a bit of a nightmare to dress in general Confused

I’m currently living in Molke as it’s reliably comfortable and looks good under most clothing (for me), but it restricts the clothes I can reasonably wear over it as it’s so close to the neck and I’m tired of putting my bra on over my head! I tried some other brands (like Freya, Panache, Bravissimo) but they were sooo uncomfortable Sad however I only tried a few styles, it’s just an expensive hobby if I only find out they hurt with normal wear. Happily pay a higher price if I can actually wear the bra regularly!

I'm a 36h and have always struggled to find bras to fit as I have also had a lumpectomy so lopsided too. I've usually had to settle on what fits. I've been wearing Elomi bras for a few years and was impressed when bra shopping before Christmas that they have now introduced some new rather more exciting bras to their range.

Eesha · 01/01/2022 08:37

I ended up buying quite a bit at M&S who have some sexy items for my size. They are literally my only option!

it sounds like you might need to experiment a bit more with styles - panache and bravissimo especially vary quite a lot as they actually design bras for different breast shapes so their 30jj won't all be the same.

Do you know the names/styles of any of the brav/pan/freya you've tried? If you can identify them and tell me what was wrong i might be able to suggest options.

What's wrong with bravissimo? They stock Freya, fantasise etc plus their own range.

I'm a 32J and they've served me well for years!

Plus you get loyalty points for vouchers off.

Eesha · 01/01/2022 10:28

@Polmuggle I quite like more flouncy almost bondagey style whereas I find Bravissimo a bit samey to me. So Playful Promises really with Marks for pretty stuff. But I struggle to find interesting colours.

That’s great @StatisticallyChallenged thank you!

The ones I can remember…

Panache Andorra
Panache Envy
Freya Fancies (can’t remember if plunge or balcony)
Bravissimo Darcy
Bravissimo Maya

Before I moved to J cup onwards, I used to wear Fantasie and found lots of their styles comfortable (wore things like Jana, Rebecca, Esme, Salsa).

The problems I’ve had with the others since sizing up (following pregnancies) is that they feel fine initially when trying them on and for the first couple of hours, but throughout the day the underwire then seems to really dig in, under the breast, towards the side/underarm. I’ve never had this issue before but getting it repeatedly now! Trouble is this is all kicked off two years ago and trying to get to anything resembling a store during this time with Covid just hasn’t been successful Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/01/2022 10:59

Off the top of my head the thing that strikes me about all of those is that they are quite wide wired - freya especially.

It sounds like you need something that is a bit narrower, which can be challenging in a JJ (I'm in that range too). How is the band on Bravissimo 30s on you?

Can you have a look at your boobs and try to figure out;

  • if they are top or bottom heavy (are you more ski slope shaped or do you tend to get that "two cakes on a plate" kind of rounded look)
  • are they close set or far apart (how big is the central gap)
  • do you have wide or narrow roots (do your boobs go quite far under your arms or are they quite front and central?)
StatisticallyChallenged · 01/01/2022 11:01

And a bigger underarm issue is super common when you have to upsize as the cups get wider as you go up - some more than others. Sometimes big cup sizes on small bands become ridiculously wide and the wires are practically wrapping round your back.

Primadonna are the absolute tops for big busts. I’m a 34 H and have been wearing them for 25 years now. Long lasting, pretty and much better support than Fantasies, Freya etc.
StatisticallyChallenged · 01/01/2022 11:57

Musmerian are you a UK H cup? AFAIK PrimaDonna skip double letters and the biggest I've seen is labeled as a J which would make it about a UK GG but I'm not sure if it translates that clearly.

Squills · 01/01/2022 12:14

I'm a 34G and find Fantasie bras fit well.

liquoriceallsortfamily · 01/01/2022 12:57

Try Ann summers. They now go up to a H cup xx

wonderspread · 01/01/2022 13:24

@StatisticallyChallenged I think you’re on the button with the narrow thing, I wore Fantasie a lot in the past because the straps didn’t fall off my shoulders. I assumed it was just a shoulder thing but perhaps it was an overall narrow thing.

The band on Bravissimo seemed fine, I think (trying to remember as it was about a year ago I last attempted to find bras!), it was then with longer wear that I got the wire issue. But to be fair I only tried a couple of styles, I had hoped to go in store and try a wider range but haven’t had the opportunity yet.

On your questions:

  • definitely bottom heavy.
  • I don’t know how far is far but I don’t think they’re close, at the base where the band would be is about an inch gap.
  • I think I have narrow roots. Hadn’t occurred to me they could go underarm, I’ve done some Googling and I’m thinking I’m narrow.

Thanks so much for your help, I think having too big a cup with huge underwires is definitely causing issues. Molke doesn’t have this issue purely because it doesn’t have cups in the traditional sense and of course no underwire. I’m also going to stare at photos of some of the Fantasie I used to wear to get a sense of the shape and style!
