Philips Lumea. Works on some parts, but not others?

Does anyone have the Philips Lumea Prestige and can shed some light please?

So I bought it in early Summer, it's helped really well on most parts, including armpits, arms and legs. But the place I really want it to work isn't helping at all. Mainly my face. Upper lip and chin/neck area. I do have very dark hair there as well, so assumed it would work, but it hasn't

Has anyone else had this experience?

My legs are practically hair free now but I can’t get it to work the same on my arm pits!

Are you shaving your face first op?

bippityboppity87 · 30/12/2021 22:45

Yes shaving my face. I have to anyway, as it would be quite noticeable otherwise. Just wondered why it isn't working where I want it to!

oh that was my only suggestion.... can you turn it up a setting perhaps?

bippityboppity87 · 31/12/2021 14:46

Yes tried it on the highest setting. Persevered for a couple of months and it improved a little, but not massively. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It's just strange how it's worked so well on other parts, but not the actually bit I really want it to 😅 like the bits where people can see

Unless I need something different on the face. But I don't want to fork out more £££ and go into a clinic if it's actually not going to work

Yes, mine worked on legs, lessened face a bit but has had zero impact in arm pits

I think there are 2 reasons it's less effective on the face. One is that the hairs aren't as dark and course as underarm hair, for example, so it's not targeted as much. The other is that it's much less effective on hormonal hair, for want of a better phrasing! I bought mine almost 7 years ago and remember reading then that hair growth linked to hormones won't necessarily be significantly reduced.

Not only did it NOT work on my face but I starting sprouting more hair on my chin! It accelerated the growth somehow...

Works perfectly on legs and armpits
