Ugh. Dyed my hair and don’t like the colour

I balayaged my hair and the blond ends were a bit bright, so I put an ash blonde over the top. That’s dulled it down so much, it almost looks grey! I don’t want grey, I’m lucky enough to not have any yet so I don’t want to put any in.

I’ve bought some colour b4 and two perm colours, a rose gold and a normal blond. Both of those say they should go over dark blond and have the colour on the box - should I bother with the colour b4? I’ve never used it before, but I understand it can severely dry the hair and tbh mine is dryer than the Sahara anyway.

Can anyone advise please?

You say helpful but she's right. Putting box dye on top of box dye on top of balayage when your hair is already dry is a recipe for disaster. I can see your hair being brittle at best and falling out at worst. Go to a professional or at least call one for advice.

Thanks that’s helpful Hmm
Do you want me to say yeah continue to pile stuff after stuff on your hair , waste money and watch it turn to cotton candy ? Go ahead ....
sleepyhoglet · 21/12/2021 20:25

Photo? I would also leave the hair for a little bit

SirVixofVixHall · 21/12/2021 20:29

Vosene strips colour out quickly. Or a clay based face mask.

Wishineverchangedmyname · 21/12/2021 20:30

If it's just a bit too ashy then lots of shampoos with cheap version of head and shoulders will strip it

Duchess379 · 21/12/2021 20:33

How long in between are you putting these hair dyes on? I've always dyed my own hair but I know you can't stick 5 boxes of colour on within weeks. You'll wreck your hair & it'll either go brittle or 'sticky' and over processed. And I'd be putting an argan oil treatment on in between to prevent more damage.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 21/12/2021 20:35

@IamGusFring you can of course say what you like - but your second post was actually more helpful than ‘go to a hairdresser’.

The bleach has been on there for months by the way, this is just a colour over the top. My hair is naturally dry not damaged dry. Don’t see how it would fall out, I’m not putting it anywhere near the roots. Never known hair go like cotton candy either unless it’s piling bleach over bleach but I’ll take it under consideration.

I was more after whether the colour b4 is drying or not tbh. I used to put colour over colour over colour in my youth and didn’t have any issues other than sometimes not liking the colour!

How recently have you put all these colours on?

The problem with going from light to dark and back again is that it can make the hair go green. That sludgely, khaki tint through it.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 21/12/2021 20:39

@Duchess379 where are you getting 5 boxes?! I did the bleach at least two months ago and put this one on Sunday Grin. I use oil treatments regularly and Olaplex every couple of weeks so I have that stuff on hand!

I’d add a photo but the colour correction on the camera just doesn’t show it up properly - tbh it’s not terrible, I just don’t like it.

@Wishineverchangedmyname and @SirVixofVixHall I can try both of those instead as I have them in the house. I’ll give those a go before I use another dye.

@TheRedTowel the bleached lifted my dark brown hair to a bit brassier than I liked, so I put on the ash blonde and that’s taken it down to grey (rather than dark/blond/dark). I didn’t put the colour on my roots just the ends.

My worry about green was why I bought the rose gold actually, when I was a teenager I had highlights and they went green after a while, luckily a red colour over the top just about saved it!

I like my hair ashy and find it washes out quite quickly and warms up. Maybe find a good clarifying shampoo and use your hair treatments afterwards, it might fade to something you like quite quickly.

CrystalMaisie · 22/12/2021 08:48

Wait it for it to fade

coffeetofunction · 22/12/2021 09:11

Wash it with head and shoulders and baby shampoo, they will strip the colour. You could then try a intense conditioning treatment. If you can get you wash in wash out and apply it mixed with conditioner to try and slightly alter the colour
