Can one genuinely wear a dress with a long puffer...

...if one is accustomed to wearing knee length/mini, A line type dresses?

Of course one can wear anything with anything.

But there are certain people who can carry off Sport + womanly.

I am possibly not one of them.

All of the images of the many lovely puffers around this season show women who are lithe of limb and fond of the trouser/legging.

No - I wore a knee-length patterned dress, clumpy Chelsea boots and a longline green puffa into town this week. Thought I might get away with it but kept catching sight of myself in shop windows and I looked like an absolute frump. Really grim. It didn't work at all. Needed either a proper oversized wool-type coat to balance the dress or maybe a v plain dress. I really feel the cold so it's a hard one but feminine + practical = hard no.

Looks better than not wearing a coat and looking freezing.

@slipperyeel :-)
@dogrilla I am inclined to agree. I'm going to wait the trend out. In 2 years' time it will no longer be de rigeur to wear a puffer and there will be loads of nice wool coats in the shops again. With a waist.

Lots of longer length Borg style coats out there at the moment. They’d work better with a dress.

Second this! I brought an ankle length Borg coat in the ASOS sale 50% off and it goes with everythinggg. Of course anyone over the age of 50 seems to tell me I look like I’m wearing a dressing gown, but that’s said through their chattering teeth in their freezing coats whilst I’m practically wearing a duvet!

I've been wearing puffers for 20 years , they aren't a new thing ! You can wear them with what you want and when .

Thanks everyone. I've gone for a Superdry - meant to be thigh length, but knee length on me.

Gunnersgold me too! I can’t imagine doing winter without them. They go with everything except evening dress if you ask me!

Smoothsoul · 27/12/2021 02:17

I wear a long calf length superdry puffer with everything; dresses/jeans/leggings and footwear from heeled ankle boots, Chelsea boots, dms and trainers. I think it looks good

I wear my puffer with jeans but it doesn't feel right with dresses so I wear a long wool coat with skirts and dresses.
