Does a pinafore look good on a grown woman?

I have recently bought a black corduroy button up pinafore with silver buttons. I am 24, so I am not sure if it will look good on me or not. How should I style it?

I didn't realise either. I've got 3 in cord and denim. I'm 50 and they suit me.
Does our age seriously prevent us wearing things that suit our figure/style?

24 is when you can wear everything and anything!!

And it doesn't stop there, in my opinion. I'm in my 60s and wear pinafores. Why wouldn't you?

First of all anyone can wear what the hell they want at any age…

Saying that, I just don’t think they flatter certain body shapes. I’m pear shaped and they do nothing for me because they don’t accentuate my waist. I had two which I sadly consigned to the charity shop 😔

My sister wears them and looks fantastic. They wouldn't suit me at all. It's individual more than age-related. Wear what you like!

what colour top would people recommended under a black pinafore? i have a black roll neck top . maybe that would go with it

I don’t think age comes into it but body shape might. I’m an hourglass with big boobs and often the bib part is too narrow for my frame. I wouldn’t want my boobs to be hanging out the sides …. Not literally obviously. I wouldn’t want the shape of them to show lots at the sides. If you’re neater on top then I quite like them in a Toast kind of way. I’d wear with DM shoes ( not boots) or another chunky flat shoe.

Roll neck tops look great with pinafores, maybe a different colour though, whatever suits you. I have an autumnal complexion so wore mine with rust red, forest green, mustard

I am pale (like a pinkish skin tone) with blue eyes, so I am not sure which colours go well with that. perhaps cream?

I love mine, one from Seasalt and one from white stuff . I put a fine gauge jumper underneath and thick wool tights.

I think it can start to look good again in your 60s, like, in an opting out of trends and fashion way, having settled in to your own "uniform" way.

I wear them, with thick black tights, New Rocks and some sort of long sleeved top under. I am large chested and I just look for a slightly wider bib. I like the pockets. Must have four or five of them. I'm 5'7".

I have one in denim, I'm a inverted triangle shape, so anything fitted with no stretch is a no no on top, as I need a twelve top but 10 bottom, so these work well, as in the top there is more room for my boobs.

I wear them all the time and I am almost twice your age. I wear lots of different tops in different colours and styles, opaque tights and ankle boots.

If you like pinafores, wear pinafores. It has nothing to do with age, just personal preference.

If it suits you and is your thing then go for it. I’ve seen a couple of young women (20s) in them with great figures though and not sure if it’s the wrong style. It’s all about how you accessorise it. What colour and style top (Polo neck normally) and also you can do ballerina shoes, loafers or biker boots/DMs.

I wore mine checkers pinafore skirt with turtleneck. Comfy and cosy perfect for winter. This outfit got lots of compliments at work too.
