Struggling to find a long puffer coat

Ahm987 · 11/12/2021 15:57

I’m hunting for a long puffer coat with a hood and cannot find anything just right. I ordered the Hush one, but it’s not thick enough (I get really cold). I’m looking at more outdoorsy brands- I love the look of the North Face triple C, but it’s out of stock in my size (and very pricey, so that’s probably just as well!!)

It has to have a hood, decent long sleeves for my ridiculous long arms (extra jersey cuffs would be a bonus), and a good warmth rating.

Didrikson- again, it’s out of stock, but in any case, I’m not sure if I like the raised neck- might find it a bit of a nuisance with my hairstyle.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m happy to pay up to £300 or so. Thanks 😊

I've got one from joules and one from uniqlo both very good

Phase eight do some nice ones. Stylish and not too duvet-like.

Jumping on to ask if anyone has found a very long puffa that's actually waterproof (not just showerproof)¿

Ideally not too £££.

Thanks all Daffodil

I don’t think such a thing exists unless you pay a fortune.

I have tried on soooo many duvet coats and settled on this Superdry one and I love it. Super warm and flattering, I am a size 14 and sized down to a 10 though as it’s an oversized coat.

Try sea salt, water proof, lined warm, good stays up, lots of pockets - great for standing watching football matches.

I’ve seen a few people in this and it’s lovely. Not in stock online but might be in a store local to you…

I've got this M&S one TheTeaFairy.. in red (now sold out)

However, if you're a size 14 or 16 and want the black, youre in luck .. I wore it today in the pouring rain and i highly recommend it ..i live in wet West Wales, so its been tested a lot lately, water just rolls off it! (it is coated in 'Stormwear')

Arket do great puffa coats!

SocksAndTheCity · 13/12/2021 22:20

I picked up last years' Zara oversize longline puffer coat on eBay and it's very warm with a nice big (plain) hood. I'd recommend a look although if you're my height (5'3") or shorter you'll have to walk like Pingu as it comes down to just above my ankles 😀

Just bought this and really happy

I bought the Emma Willis coat from next last year in cream. Well, it's more of a camel really. I call it my football manager's jacket. It's super warm and quite waterproof. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, and I've paid a lot more for a lot worse!

LadyMacnet · 13/12/2021 22:34

I have had the Uniqlo coat linked by Tatapie for two years. I love it - it is lovely and warm, proper long line (I am 5’ 6”) and it looks pretty good after two winters of daily wear. I really recommend this coat.

Try Monki

Allthewhite · 13/12/2021 22:39

I bought the Sweaty Betty reversible duvet one in the 50% off promotion a few weeks ago and it is a godsend for us tall people. I’m 5’10 with long arms and arms are a smidge too long. Sizing is ridiculous though. I’m a 10/12 and bought an XS and it’s big. Super long and cozy.

RogueV · 13/12/2021 23:00

Jack wolfskin Crystal Palace

Bootsnshoes · 13/12/2021 23:49

Mountain Warehouse Aspen extra long recycled padded jacket. I love it! Showerproof, good to super low temps, excellent pockets.

TheTeaFairy · 14/12/2021 06:57

Thanks for all your replies, will check out all the suggestions 🙏

Ahm987 · 22/12/2021 13:45

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I still haven’t found the right thing. Here’s what I’ve tried:-

Cos long puffer- very oversized and made my head look tiny 😁

M&S - managed to find one of their long black puffers. It’s also a bit too big and the zip keeps sticking.

North Face- ditto regarding being too oversized

I’ve come to the conclusion that the long oversized style doesn’t really suit me. Whilst I’m tallish (5’ 8”), I have a very small upper half compared to waist and hips. Generally I suit things which add bulk to my top half- hence why short jackets suit me much better. But, I want something long and very very warm!!

I ordered an above-the-knee length puffer from Berghaus. It’s more flattering but the sleeves are too short.

So I’m still on the hunt. Narrowed it down to buying from an ‘outdoor’ brand (much warmer), probably above-the-knee and black, and definitely a puffer.
