Tried these jeans on today in river island size 14. They are skinny high waist which is deffo my style. Even when top tucked in I feel huge but imagine if I didn't tuck it in like during summer etc thrn my belly just looks huge. I've lost weight from my legs but all that I gain just goes to my belly help anyone lol

This blog is good - here’s the one for dressing when you have weight in your belly area.

Stand up straight and engage your abs! Honestly proper posture can take off a dress size. If you push your hips forwards and slouch, of course you’ll look fatter around the middle.

dontgobaconmyheart · 12/12/2021 10:01

I also think the angle of the photo isn't helping but the jeans look an awkward fit at the top. Are you short waisted OP? Just looks like too much fabric and the skinny fit on the legs emphasises it.

I would try other styles, a slim straight leg or the jeans in black instead, tuck the front of a top only, not the whole lot.

Smocks and tunics have no place in 2021.

If you dress for your shape rather than for fashion then they do, if I'm an apple and I need things to skim, so tunics/smock/oversized tops are my thing.

Greyhare · 12/12/2021 10:31

Oh and high waisted jeans are not an apples friend, you need mid waisted as high waisted just emphasise the roundedness of an apples belly.

lololololollll · 12/12/2021 10:33

You look fine to me

harmonyhall · 12/12/2021 11:02

I'm not sure if I'm short waisted 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I find tops that finish just above the hips, are better, so they finish at the bottom of my tummy but showing a, bit of the jeans zipper. Anything longer and I look like a blob.

PlacidPenelope · 12/12/2021 13:02

I know you said the jeans are your style but honestly I don't think they are doing you any favours at all and the tucked in top just emphasises that.

As others have said try a different style of jeans.

CambsAlways · 12/12/2021 14:39

I think the if you stand up and not slouch, it will make a difference, the photo is making you look bigger than you actually are , also wear a floaty top, makes a lot of difference too when you are wearing footwear

CockSpadget · 12/12/2021 19:17

Have you tried a belt, it will make it look more "finished" where the top is tucked

saturning · 13/12/2021 17:35

honestly, i look the same in jeans when i wear tops tucked in at front or fully tucked.

It's a fashionable look to tuck or wear crop woollen jumpers but not for me having my ring of lard which sits below my belly button and around the top of my hips!

A fitted jumper with loose lightweight sheer shirts, the kind you need a strappy vest under - just a bit below mid hips, is more a flattering look.

like someone said earlier, not too long to cover full zip.

It shows a bit of shape of the hip but not the full belly bulge.

speaking for myself, it is a shape that is quite hard to wear jeans with.

saturning · 13/12/2021 17:40

short waisted is when you don't have a lot of space between your bottom ribs and top of your hip bone. it can make the middle section of your body look a bit short and highlight extra body fat on the stomach area.

i've been 7 stone 10 lbs (uk8) and 12 stone 5 lbs (uk14-16) and i always have had a larger stomach, now that i'm 12 stone, the extra stomach fat is a LOT more obvious on my short waisted body type

borisisaprat · 22/12/2021 15:17

Hey this is the OP but with a name change. So I've uploaded a pic of jeans I got today in primark high waisted size 16. I do have a belly bulge but I think this top covers it quite well? So at least I can wear jeans again I think and after Xmas crack on with losing weight

Mercurial123 · 22/12/2021 15:24

OP why do you always post about this and never listen to advice?

borisisaprat · 22/12/2021 15:26

Please give the advice again and comment on my last update

Mercurial123 · 22/12/2021 15:33

No because you are the same poster that asks about this all the time?

CousinGregg · 22/12/2021 16:19

No to the skinny jeans

StarlightLady · 22/12/2021 17:11

I think the problem is the high waist. If they make jeans that come up much higher we won’t need to wear a top at all!

5128gap · 22/12/2021 22:20

Nothing shows off the exact shape you are like tight high waist skinnies with a tucked in top. If there is anything about your shape you dislike or wish to hide or disguise, you should put them down and move along.

IncompleteSenten · 23/12/2021 08:19

Yes, the 16 looks much better.

mylovelydd · 23/12/2021 08:37

Posters on here always claim that Mom jeans are great for disguising a belly but they only ever emphasise one.
I don't have a big belly but I look like Obelix from Asterix the Gaul in them.
Low rise jeans are the way to go. The belly might 'hang' over the top but it can be covered by a top and tbh seems to smooth out.
And don't tuck your top in.

MoltonSilver · 23/12/2021 09:03

They're not the right jeans for you. Keep looking. You'll find a better pair. The hunt for jeans requires a hell of a lot of trying on until you find 'the ones'.

5128gap · 23/12/2021 09:15

I don't think a pair of jeans exists that hides an apple belly in a tucked in top. You need to either quit caring about it, its your shape, its not ugly and you're far from in a minority in having a belly. Or, you need to wear a long top.
