Help

I need something to wear to our office Christmas do this Thurs. It is a lunch time do which always goes on until early evening at least.

Everyone usually dresses up but this year I really am not in the mood for various stressy reasons, including the fact that I have gone from a size 14/16 in the summer to a size 16/18 at the moment , hence nothing in my wardrobe from last year etc fits!!

Anyway I just left it hoping the whole problem would go away or hoping that I would magically lose a stone (whilst still scoffing hobnobs by the crateload )

As neither of these things looked like they would happen I bought this skirt in a panic on Saturday (had ds 3yrs old with me and it was bought in the 15mins I had available)

www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B000YJ7H2G/sr=1-78/qid=1197895386/ref=sr_1_78?ie=UTF8&node=&m=A2B O0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=skirts&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=n%3A42966030%2Ck%3Askirts%2Cn%3A42967030&page=9

I think the skirt looks Ok but I have no ideas what to wear with it at all apart the 'hold everything' underwear I had the sence to buy at the same time.

Any ideas/opinions on skirt and possible tops?

As seaid above I am a 16/18 size, large bossomed (38 E), reasonably shaped lower legs (though thighs leave a lot to be desired) and probably classically hourglass shape (ie. have a waist and

Arms - just about adequate but prefer something that covers top of them

Get a black dress, with plenty of support tights and support bodices. Jazzy shoes and a good hair do! Not up to date with high st but I reckon there must be some out there. Try Next or Wallis.

this dress looks nice and you could put a red cardie top with it - it's meant to be a flattering style:

could you get some sort of balck corsety top and a bolero lacy jacket to cover the tops of your arms

Nice dress but something about round neck tops makes me look weird.

Black dress a very good idea- I just couldn't find one I liked on Saturday. In fact dresses in general don't seem to work very well on me, except maybe the ubiquitous wrap dress so I tend to go for separates

Just realised I didn't put a title on this duh!!!!!!!!

like this

mustsleep · 17/12/2007 13:41

or this

with jeans?

Lazycow · 17/12/2007 13:46

Now that is an idea mustsleep, I think I may have one of those bolero type lacy tops in my wardrobe somewhere, must dig it out when I get home an see if it still fits. Maybe I could couple it with a black vest or something.

yes that would look good

i got last year it's got all purpley sequins on and glams up any top loooove it

hoarsewhisperer · 17/12/2007 15:17

I like the skirt alot! very nice. Why don't you wear it with some knee length boots and a black scoop neck top? that wouldn't be too dressy.....

mellyonion · 17/12/2007 21:15

lovely skirt.
you could wear it sort of fifties style if you have a great hourglass figure. put it with a nice fitted black v neck sweater.....some pretty jewellery, and high heels?

(actually...am crap at shoes...i never know what kind to wear with anything! lol)
good luck! enjoy your "do" x

mellyonion · 17/12/2007 21:19

this is nice

or something like this

Lazycow · 19/12/2007 15:20

Thanks all

I've decided to go slightly glam with sheer black tights and black high heels (I have a suede pair with a bar and rounded toe that look quite 50's) and will add a v neck black fitted sweater with it (will help to keep me warm as well )
