I had a wonderful date recently but we were both absolutely freezing. I'm looking for lovely sexy winter outfits. I'm size 14/16 hourglass, 38GG, 5ft 6. Any tips?

Silk thermals. Something like these www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-thermal-silk-leggings-black/p2191229 under jeans or trousers and something like www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-plain-silk-thermal-camisole/p2191224 this under your top. They’re really thin and lightweight but keep you very warm.

Soft fluffy cardi, lace thermal cami underneath.

Fleece lined opaques if you're wearing a dress
Sheepskin insoles inside your footwear make a massive difference

After are you going on the date? What sort of things do you like to wear?

Craftycorvid · 28/11/2021 20:57

You can’t beat tactile fabrics in lovely colours - cashmere is wonderful! The sheen on it will make your skin glow, it’s very light and soft so you won’t feel bundled up, and it’s very warm. On top of that? A lovely sweeping coat in a great colour.

@Gillybobs so sorry but I just don’t see how a cardi can ever be sexy?! But each to their own!

I agree in this case I think texture and colour makes something sexy rather than it being revealing. I’d be going for pure white or jet black, tactile fabric, or else lots of (faux) fur, maybe in a warm grey with some suede for good measure. Possibly some sequins.

Layers, thermals. Or retreat to a roaring fire

I would wear snug jeans or leather trousers that flattered my bum hips and waist, with a coat short enough to show them off. Or a knee length coat that nipped in at the waist like a dress, ideally in red.

It's taken me far too long but I have recently discovered merino wool. Thin fine knitwear, tights, dresses, that don't itch like other wool, wash well and are so unbelievably warm compared to other fabrics.

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what kind of activity are we talking ? Dog walking? Draughty pub / cinema? Dinner? I personally find super tight clothes a bit obvious and not sexy. I’d probably aim for oversized cashmere sweater ( maybe a mans) that has a deep V that falls off the shoulder a little. Wear a silk camisole ( or thermal vest if you must ) and let a bit of lace peep out. Velvet is nice and tactile - cropped velvet trousers would be an option or a suit if you need smart. A great wool coat and a big scarf you can wrap around - I’ve got some extra long ones from Cos. If you want dresses then I’d wear midi dresses with long boots underneath and a slouchy sweater on top. Swap tights for thermals although find some ok looking ones… Heat Tech at Uniqlo in case he’s going to see them! Smile

A cardigan can be very sexy - I like the ones on that link. Best tucked in and off -set against something like jeans otherwise it’s straying into “nicey nice” territory. Vivienne Westwood likes a fine knit button up cardi too. It might be tricky to find one that isn’t Carry on Matron though with Double G’s so I’d probably stick to the oversized sweater if it was me.

AndMatt · 28/11/2021 22:22

IMO there's nothing less attractive that a woman who's inappropriately dressed for the activity in the name of being sexy.

If you're going to be outdoors wear something cosy.

If not, why are you so cold?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/11/2021 23:04

I’m a different size/shape, but always cold and live in NE Scotland. I recently felt great in a short black leather skirt with a cream mohair jumper, opaque tights, and flat boots. The fluffy jumper worked really nicely with the skirt. (Although I wasn’t aiming for “sexy”, tbh, so that might not be the sort of thing you want!)

Eesha · 29/11/2021 10:18

I like this camisole idea, and a scarf. My jumpers just dont look great. I will look up the Uniqlo tights!
