Hairdresser etiquette

For various logistical reasons I'm having a one off haircut at a salon I used to go to years ago before DC and didn't have as much money The girl I used to go to was amazing but it was just too expensive for me and I changed to a lower cost out of town salon.
What if I see, or worse am allocates d my old hairdresser? Do I say anything/ nothing or keep quiet?! She might not recognise me of course. I'm hardly special but oh the fear!!!

If you do get your old hairdresser you could always say something like 'oh it's so good to be back here! I used to love the way you cut my hair but had to cut back on costs for a while - great to be back though'.

Say you moved so generally go to a salon nearer to you but booked in for a one off maybe?

I had the opposite, I had a dreadful cut at my usual salon by a new hairdresser as my lady had left. I didn’t want to go back there so booked into a salon near work.

Sod’s law, the girl who did my awful cut was now at the salon near work! She even joked ‘bet you didn’t think you’d get me when you booked in here’ Grin

Oh no @MeetMeAtOurSpot 😅

Surely you know the name of your stylist if you've already booked, so would know if it's her?

polkadotpjs · 21/11/2021 14:19

@DietrichandDiMaggio I just selected "anyone" on the online booking. I may have an email though so will check...
Glad you aren't all calling me crazy though so thank you. And I fully intend to return to my amazing current lady when possible. Why does it feel like I'm cheating?

Watching with interest Grin I’ve just cancelled my current hairdresser as she’s just not been giving me the hairstyle I want, and I feel like I’m cheating on her by going elsewhere.
I think you just have to be honest with her @Pumpkintopf’s reply is spot on.

@Pumpkintopf come with me?! I'm such an anxiety ridden ball of stress. But equally looking forward to it as I love the theory of going to get my hair done being a treat. It's the etiquette, the chit chat, the lack of choice for my stringy hair and ultimate disappointment that I'm still looking at the same face at the end 😂

Ha ha I feel your pain as I too have had to resign myself that no haircut, however good, can transform my face 😁 I would absolutely come with you and bore your hairdresser to tears with chit chat though- I do this regularly for my DD who hates talking to anyone (whereas I love it and will happily chat through her appointment AND mine!)
