Why is everything so long?

I'm 5'7" so not short and for most of my life, if anything, my issue was finding trousers that weren't too short.

Over the last few years though everything is too long. I ordered this jumpsuit, which is lovely on, but even with heels a good 4 inches too long. Who exactly is it made for? It has pleats in the legs so even though I can make simple alterations I don't think this can be shortened

5’11 and wish I had this problem.

I own one pair of trousers which reach my ankles and I’ve tried a lot on.

@LookdeepintotheParka

The average female height in the UK is now 5'4 so what I don't understand is why at 5'3, some of the short/petite ranges are suddenly too long for me Hmm

Females are growing taller but not that quickly (either that or I'm now shrinking so that doesn't bode well Grin)

Are you shopping in young people's shops? Their average height will be taller.

I'm 5ft 1 and have the same kind of problem

@Gwenhwyfar - I mostly shop at M&S and Next. There's really no hope for me if trousers from their petite ranges are too long Grin

I'm 5 ft5 with a 33 inch inside leg, and everything is either too short or too long. I have problems with fit anyway, and no longer understand how long things should be anyway. I have a new coat combing tomorrow, that I really don't need, but I'd like a coat that goes past me knees. The other thing I've found is that sleeves are too narrow, and I know it's not my arms getting fatter because all my older clothes sleeves still fit! There just isn't enough fabric in the arm hole and shoulder to be able to move. I've tried batwing balloon sleeves, whatever they're called, and I just look stupid, but I'm tempted because I like the spacious ness of them

I wish I could go back and edit that post 😱

I’m 5’2 with a short body and proportionally long legs but I’m curvy. Even with my curves which normally make dresses a bit shorter, I ordered a few dresses from Oh Polly and they aren’t short enough! Which is odd as I’m sure the brand is known for short dresses?!

ExConstance · 25/11/2021 10:32

Toast is the worst offender. Years ago I used to buy their dresses and they fitted me and were not excessively long (I'm 5'3") I have now given up as the clothes are not only huge but also very long. The last dress I really loved was huge on me in a size 10, when i was 13 stone and nearly a 16 with most makes. It also trailed along the floor being so long it could not have been altered without total reconstruction. I'm surprised that a make that trades on ethical standards uses vanity sizing to such an extent. I'm now a size 10 or 12 in most tops. I'm wearing a Toast size 8 T shirt today and it is hanging off me.

Toast lengths are based on height of 5' 6". Their trousers are too short for me and sleeves lengths are always an issue. At their price point they should offer a tall and petite range.

Agree their sizing is ridiculous.
