One of my ears has closed up and I would like to wear some nice earrings over Xmas - but I can't for the life of me remember where I got them done 20 years ago!!
And will it be sore?

i will come round with a needle and ice cube if you like.

TracyK · 12/12/2007 21:43

I'm sure it was a needle and a potato in my day!

ice cube numbs it. i ran mine under cold tap.

Were you just opening up an existing hole or from scratch?
My friend the nurse is coming round on Friday - maybe I could get her to do it for me.

I had mine done in the hairdresser's 20 years ago, but I have no idea if hairdressers still do them! If I wanted a piercing re-doing I would be inclined to go somewhere like a proper piercing place or tattooists where they'll use a needle rather than a gun. My DIY ear piercing (needle and ice) has given me far less jip over the years than the two 'professional' gun ones!

from scratch, but in gristly bit. and it was 25 years ago (oh my aged ears).

nurse friend sounds ideal, i bet she will be thrilled to operate on you.

jewellers - our local hinds does it - think some others do too.

Claire's Accessories, if you can get in past the sea of 12 year olds in pink fluffy tiaras buying plastic jewellery!

i go to tattoo & piercing place
they use needles, not guns
much better imo

I went to Goldsmiths jewellers & they were really good.
