Have you bought a duvet coat? Which one?

Under £100 preferably. I tried on the next emma Willis one today dp had a good laugh at it almost touching the floor on me. I'm 5'4''.

Will a duvet coat with some waist tailoring look mumsy? Does it need to be straight?

I’ve just got this one from Zara. I ordered this and the next Emma Willis one but much prefer this. It’s a better cut, detailing and finish and looks more expensive. It comes up big, I’ve kept the extra small. I also tried on the super dry one in store but found it very oversized. I am tall and very oversized doesn’t suit me - I think it looks great on more petite people.

Also the Zara one looks far more water resistant than the next one!

@LoveLabradors how long is it? I am 5.4 and was wondering whether the Zara would just be too long?

LoveLabradors · 07/11/2021 10:53

I’m 5’ 9 and would say it’s about three inches below knee. Personally I found the next one just too long. Although I know other people love it so it’s just personal taste. I just feel the Zara one is thicker and more robust and frankly if I get mud splashes when walking they will clean off (live in the country). I also like the side zips on bottom of both the Zara and super dry coats.

Ive got a joules one that is very light but very warm. I'm 5,8 and it is midway between bum and knees so ideal for anyone a bit shorter.

I bought the Emma Willis one last year. I'm a size 8-10, would normally get a 10 in coats, but have the 8 petite and it is still roomy. I'm 5' 4" and in theory the petite is for 5 3" and under, but I would say it's still quite long on me, which it is meant to be as that is the style. It is ideal for standing out on a cold playground.

That's quite encouraging - I have loads of coats and none are any good

I’ve bought the super dry Everest one in black. It’s really long on me, but I’m a football mum so it’s extra warmth! I did buy it for function though.

Also bought the Emma W one from Next. Great coat, really cosy but size down as comes up BIG. I’m normally a16 but 14 was more than roomy ( which felt great)

I’ve got a Uniqlo long one but the dog ripped it so I had to stick it together and now it’s relegated to a dog walking coat. I just bought the arket version which is way nicer and thicker.
Totally shapeless though, but actually quite smart so fine to wear for nights out in the winter - I like being warm!. The Uniqlo one wouldn’t have been even pre the dog rip!

I got the Ashill Coat by Seasalt (got mine from Next which they also sell in petite). Really happy with it as it's not too bulky or long.

I’ve bought one from Tesco (under £60). I’m 5’3 and it goes to my lower calves. I have to think about what I wear with it (leggings and Chelsea boots seem to be the best), and it does look better open than fastened closed... but I love how I actually feel like I am wrapped in a duvet! AND the pockets are super deep, fleece-lined and zipped! Probably do look silly but it is so cosy I don’t mind.
