Got dressed today in a slightly quirkier than normal combo, a couple of poses in front of the mirror and I decided I was fashion forward and ready to drop the kids off at school (amongst many media and insta types)

I’ve just seen the footage of me returning, stomping up the driveway, hunched over looking in my bag for keys and looking like I’d got dressed in the dark. Sort of bin bag meets Freddie Kruger.

Of course this should encourage me to tone down my attempts at keeping up with the Instagrammers but in reality I’ll teach myself to “glide” up the driveway and flash a smile at the doorbell.

Recently dressed for a night out, going upstairs to get my handbag. Theres a mirror at top of stairs..I saw myself on approach. Lumbering, ungainly, heavy-footed. As opposed to glam and skipping lightly up the stairs as Id imagined...

I once caught sight of myself and it was my grandmother! I went out and bought a new coat (Seasalt Planthunters are fabulous for keeping warm and dry, but not at all flattering!) , and ditched the scarves I was so fond of.

So with you there. I've put in loads of weight since developing chronic illness in the last few years. In my bedroom mirror I often don't look too bad but then I catch myself while out in a mirror or window, or have a photo taken, and think who the fact is that old whale?!? Lol!

I am gradually developing the chin of my mother. We generally age quite well as a family, except for the chin.....

This is sadly my experience too.

How can my view in the mirror be so different from the doorbell footage or shop window?

And yes to the chin. I find my self holding things up a little to see the me of ten years ago now. Depressing!!!

Not on video doorbell but once I almost walked into a full size mirror as I didn't recognise myself!
I had a lot going on at the time so a lot on my mind but it was a weird experience anyway.

Ah, you've all made me laugh too and now I feel much better about myself. I will however retire “the outfit”
The doorbell is new so I’m getting over the novelty of looking at all of the videos and settling firmly into my denial.

I can beat that. I once got out of the shower with my hair up in a towel and made myself jump when I looked in the mirror. I swear to God that it was my granny looking back at me!

Me: I'll order a turkey crown then. Unless you want a leg.

DH: what happens to the rest of the turkey? Like the wobbly turkey neck?

Me: They give them to middle aged women.

Trouble is , I look ok in the mirror , I'm used to that face looking back . But a photo isn't that face

I got my Passport photos done today , (I'm not using these pictures !) I look lke a sneeryserial killer .
Are my eyebrows really that bad? My eyes that uneven?

ALL passport photos are ghastly. In my driving licence one I look like a nervous, depressed ghost.
