Any anti humidity hair products that actually work? Monica in Barbados issues...

Hi,

Just that really.

I have thick ish, coarse, wavy to curly, highlighted, so quite dry, hair.

It actually blow dries quite well and with the magic of the Dyson Airwrap, can get it looking all swishy and smooth. However.... if there's ANY sign of humidity in the air, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards Blush or - as said - Monica in Barbados Confused

I'm going away to Spain (hopefully ) next year and I'm dreading that daily battle with the mane. I tried standard hair spray last time I had a beach holiday and that had little effect.

Any recommendations? I've seen quite a few products claiming to do this, but with varying reviews.

TIA

Loreal Steampod tames my frizzy hair in the humidity.

Ducksareruiningmypatio · 04/11/2021 09:22

I get this issue so I'm watching with interest!

MrsStressyHead · 04/11/2021 12:42

@Mercurial123, how does that work against humidity? Isn't that just a hair drying product? Sorry if I'm completely misinformed!

I agree about the L’Oreal steam pod. First came across it in Cyprus hair salon when struggling with the humidity. Game changer. They don’t use GHDs in summer as just fry out hair; steampod doesn’t. Bought one on my return and have used ever since.

EvelynBeatrice · 04/11/2021 12:55

It’s not a dryer - it’s a straightener.

ILoveShula · 04/11/2021 13:09

My wavy hair goes curly on holiday and I love it

ILoveShula · 04/11/2021 13:33

Sorry that was no help was it. Curly haired friend swears by Frizz-ease but lives in fear of rain.

MrsStressyHead · 04/11/2021 14:25

@EvelynBeatrice, sorry - yes, that's what I meant. My point was, I would assume you would need some sort of coating on the hair to keep out humidity, rather than just a good hair tool iyswim?

@Mercurial123, your link isn't working for me for some reason. Would you mind trying again? I'm intrigued now Smile

Hi op.

From your description it sound like we have similar hair. I've had Kerastraight done in a salon and it's a game changer. Weather impervious hair.

gunnersgold · 04/11/2021 17:44

I French plait my hair or tie it up on holiday . It's very curly and thick but hates being on holiday ! I just accept it won't behave and tie it up!

ferneytorro · 04/11/2021 18:17

I’ve probably said this on loads of threads but a keratin blow dry treatment works on mine.

Louloubaba · 04/11/2021 18:23

I love this spray:

My hairdresser who also has curly hair recommended it. It is completely invisible, leaves no residue on your hair and doesn't make it greasy. Literally amazing!

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 04/11/2021 18:27

Whereabouts in Spain and what time of year? IME it’s a v dry heat there so I don’t think you’ll have any issues. I can’t think of anything worse than heat styling my hair on a summer holiday so I would just wear it curly? The hotter the weather the faster it dries and can get some fab curls. Just don’t sit in too strong a breeze whilst it’s drying but keep moving your parting and scrunching to get the roots bouncy.

Jules0702 · 04/11/2021 19:27

The keratin treatment is a lifesaver but you can’t go into a pool or the sea with it. Mind you, it was a few years ago that I had it done so maybe they’ve changed it. It was brilliant to wash and go but a drag if you like to swim.

EvelynBeatrice · 07/11/2021 14:21

The steam pod works on its own for me and for my very curly headed daughter too Stays straight until next washed. I don’t like a lot of product on hair. I stick to a simple hair protection spray or a small amount of good old hair foam when I want good hold.
