I have a black tie do to go to on Saturday, which I'm looking forward to have got the dress, shoes etc so all I need now is to look fab. I haven't done full on evening make up for so long I just don't know what do to. It's an excuse to go to town and really glitz it up, but I'm 40 now and don't want to look too mutton-y.

The question really is how do I go about eye make up? My dress is chocolate brown, shoes and necklace are gold so I thought that my eye make up could be brown/gold - or is that too much? I have hazel eyes. I just don't know where to start, but I have this week to practice.

i have green eyes too.
my fave eye shadow is L'oreal colour appeal trio. for green eyes.

the shades are a light grey, browny green and then a lovely darker greeny brown with a little bit of shimmer.

first apply eyeliner.
i push the lighest shade right up to my brow line.
the middle across the whole of my eye lid and then the darkest just at the very outside edge.
then loads of lovely curl maximising mascara.

Someone posted a link to a series of you tube videos in which a girl have make up lessons. Has some value other than comedy. Will look it up.

The MAC website has details of various looks with colours used and brushes etc, its really good ... you can even print them off
Also theres a great forum....
www.makeupadvicemessageboard.co.uk/forum - which has prof makeup artists that will give you free advice, they have photos of their looks, and its a really friendly site. Will give you all sorts of advice and help re beauty, makeup, hair etc, and often have for sale, sample pots of makeup etc.
