I think we have at least one tiara each, according to my spreadsheet. Some have parures. Any newbies welcome, log your choices.

Princess Stephanie holding Gabriella’s hand is sweet. It must be very confusing for the kids, whatever the circumstances.

eggandonion · 20/11/2021 00:00

That family has its fair share of troubles.

I agree.

The grey coat looks a bit big and in need of an iron. The black is super chic!!

Eaumyword · 20/11/2021 08:40

Not too sure who is who, sorry, but I love that red stitch coat. I imagine it's £££ but I'm coveting it.
Caroline looks fabulous in her black Chanel, but Stephanie's coat is awful.
The lady in the quite severely tailored black belted coat with the white hat (is that Beatrice Borromeo?) looks incredibly chic and stylish.

KillingMeDeftly · 20/11/2021 08:43

The red coat is Alexandra of Hanover. She's Caroline's daughter with the notorious Prince Ernst, from whom she's separated but not divorced. I don't think there's ever been any official announcement about that but they've not been seen together for years.

Gabriella looks a lot like Stephanie to me. Now there's a royal who's had an interesting life!

LadyEloise1 · 20/11/2021 09:15

It looks like Caroline has decided not to colour her hair.

MotherofPearl · 20/11/2021 10:42

I agree about Caroline's hair. I really wish I'd not started colouring mine as I now can't work out how I'll ever stop.

As for Prince Ernst, notorious is the word! Surely he heads the league table for World's Most Badly Behaved Royal?!

KillingMeDeftly · 20/11/2021 10:45

@MotherofPearl if women couldn't inherit the throne then he'd be our king ConfusedConfused

CliffsofMohair · 20/11/2021 10:46

I always think Beatrice B is so incredibly stylish she could be a granddaughter of Grace Kelly.

MotherofPearl · 20/11/2021 11:02

Perish the thought deftly!

KillingMeDeftly · 20/11/2021 11:16

I do find Charlotte's more avant-garde style really interesting but I think she pulls a lot of it off on account of being so beautiful.

StCharlotte · 20/11/2021 11:34

I agree about Caroline's hair. I really wish I'd not started colouring mine as I now can't work out how I'll ever stop.

As someone who had to go cold turkey after developing a reaction to hair dye, I do wonder how the "dark" princesses and duchesses will deal with this in years to come or will they just do a Queen Silvia and keep on carrying on?

MotherofPearl · 20/11/2021 11:44

It's a worry for me @StCharlotte! I've been wondering if I could just get the hairdresser to dye my hair grey all over to match my roots and be done with it!

I agree @KillingMeDeftly - that gold quilted Chanel dress of hers was quite challenging, but she gets away with it. She's probably one of those people who'd look good dressed in a bin liner!

KillingMeDeftly · 20/11/2021 11:45

Did HMQ ever dye her hair? I'm not sure she did. Princess Margaret was a brunette until she died though!

Maireas · 20/11/2021 11:52

Charlotte Casiraghi makes some interesting choices/gifts/sponsorships with clothes. This coat does not look good. Beatrice B is always elegant.
I think it's a bit more dignified to go grey- strangely enough it can actually make you look younger.
I'm ok with going grey, although a colleague did tell me that it was a "brave" choice!

It's being reported that there's a double christening tomorrow at Windsor, Lucas Tindall and August Brooksbank.

I hope HMQ will be well enough to attend.

Yes, I was just reading that. HM is going to attend. It's a shame Sienna isn't being christened at the same time, a triple whammy of great grandchildren!
OP posts:
CommonRoom · 20/11/2021 17:24

A double christening of Sienna and Lilibet would be lovely (though sadly unlikely).

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/11/2021 17:31

Who will wear the christening gown? Lucas or August?
Unless HMQ has had Angela or someone else to run up another replica of the Royal Christening Gown (the one originally used at the christening of Victoria, Queen Victoria's eldest daughter. I think James Severn, Sophie & Edward's son was the last one to wear the original)

Maireas · 20/11/2021 17:39

Oooh, excellent question, @Tracy.
I recall that my niece and nephew (different siblings) got baptised at the same ceremony and there was a family gown up for grabs. My nephew was too big, so my niece wore it. Problem solved!

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 20/11/2021 18:31

Louise was the last to wear the original gown, James the first to wear the replica. But aren't Lucas and August much older than royal babies usually are when they're christened? The gown may be too small!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/11/2021 18:58

I thought after I'd posted that it I mistaken James for Louise!
So thanks KillingMeDeftly
Yes the royal babies are usually
younger when they are christened usually around 2-5 months old, mind you saying that Princess Eugenie was nearly 9 months old when christened wearing the royal christening gown.
Apparently there are 2 replicas of the gowns incase of royal twins, so if they fit maybe both boys will be wearing the gowns

Old article here
www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a22064592/british-royal-family-christening-gown-history/
But gives the background of the Christening gown

gluenotsoup · 20/11/2021 20:21

That should be a lovely family occasion. It would be nice to see Sienna christened too, but maybe she is just too small for all the logistics of different families being able to attend. I do hope HM is well enough, and we get a glimpse of some fab outfits.

@ZealAndArdour

I’d like this Cartier one that was stolen from The Portland Collection near me back in 2018.

www.tatler.com/article/missing-multimillion-pound-portland-tiara-thirteen-in-court

Attached is a photo I took of it in 2017 before it got pinched, obvs. The gallery has just left the damaged glass in place covered by another piece of glass as an exhibit in itself.

@ZealAndArdour beautiful tiara
Eaumyword · 21/11/2021 08:50

It is lovely!
