Long puffer coat

Has anyone got a sweaty Betty long puffer like this
www.sweatybetty.com/reversible-duvet-coat-5059121331758.html

Is it worth it? I do have a 50% off code for my birthday so makes it slightly less eye watering.

My other option is

www.next.co.uk/g79204s6/424834#424834

Which is less expensive but doesn't have care instructions online so I can't check it's machine washable.

Then I think, I'm a 14 and 5ft 7 is it just going to make me look bulky?

Is a sleeveless version pointless?

Please help! I need something warm and it can be a treat sort of price. I want to look sporty and stylish (is this a thing?!)

Saw a few in Select today..

Findingthelight1 · 20/10/2021 19:20

Yes, those coats will make you look bulky. I'm a size 8 and I look like a barrel in them. They are undeniably extremely warm and comfortable though, so it might be worth looking like a barrel for! Grin

I’ve just bought one from Superdry. No logos on it, just a tiny disc on the sleeve. Really warm and has poppers at the hem on the sides to make walking easier.

I mean I'm definitely prepared to go a bit Michelin man in the name of comfort and warmth. I'm thinking of the frosty mornings on rugby sidelines!

This looks really nice thanks. Maybe a bit less ovum shaped than SB

I have last year’s cocoon duvet from Sweaty Betty and it’s absolutely brilliant. Their coats are great and always have something a bit special that makes them stand out. I’ve just bought the new forest green parka for rainy days with my b’day code. Don’t settle for Next - won’t be in the same league.

Thank you @DameDoom that's helpful. It does feel expensive but also I love my SB leggings...

I've seen these coats on other people and they look great, i ordered one from Asos and DH couldn't stop smirking until he admitted I looked like a sub at the side of a football pitch Confused I think I need something with a but more shape to it

Pea22ches · 20/10/2021 19:46

I would go with the next one. I think puffer coats are not worth £300 plus and it may go flat in the wash.

What about this one? My current puffer is from George and the quality is amazing. I’ve had pricey coats and they’ve not been anywhere near as good quality. Plus with this one you could try all the different styles?

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 20/10/2021 19:55

Sweaty Betty is filled with recycled down so will be significantly warmer and reasonably guilt free. It’s reversible and has something about it style wise. Ultimately it will be much better quality and will feel like a treat… don’t compromise!
I bought a version of this type of coat last year from Cos and whilst it’s huge and will never be slimming I feel like I’m giving off “look at me I’m very warm” vibes rather than “look at the size of me” vibes

VeronicaBeccabunga · 20/10/2021 19:58

I have one from Uniqlo, it's been brilliant. Love it to bits.

IpanemaPeaHen · 20/10/2021 20:05

I have a puffer coat from Barbour and it’s really warm and not too bulky. It has a belt around the waist which I prefer for a bit of waist definition.

Aderyn21 · 20/10/2021 20:12

I've got the Next one in khaki. The label says you can wash it at 40

Long puffer coat
Durbeyfield · 20/10/2021 20:19

That Sweaty Betty one is lush. I’d buy that.

Durbeyfield · 20/10/2021 20:20

Mind you the Superdry one isn’t a bad alternative.

I do like that this has multi function.

Thank you! Why don't they put this on the website? Bonkers when it's not bad news (dry clean only)

I have ordered this
? It’s very unhelpfully out of stock. Stumbled across it, like you I wanted a big long one but I do think it will make me look like a giant, I think this one will be flattering at the waist

itsgettingwierd · 20/10/2021 20:37

I have a knee length puffer coat from Tesco.

I call it my sleeping bag 🤷‍♀️🤣

I actually couldn't give a shot if I look fat when I'm toastie warm when it's 2° outside!

I'm also 5"7 and a 14/16

OverByYer · 20/10/2021 20:44

Wow that asda one is amazing

dudsville · 20/10/2021 21:05

I have two from lands end, not stylish but yes they are very warm. I have a grey puffer sleeping bag one and a black "squall". The black one is 7 years old and looks new. The grey one is 4 years old and looks new. I desperately want a new one just for fun but these coats are going the distance.

lionobserving · 20/10/2021 21:05

Sorry if it's a silly question, but how do you get the 50% off on your birthday? Do they give that to you if you purchase something from sweaty Betty? My birthday is in a few weeks so I'll sneak in a small order of something before my bday so I can use the code to get some new winter bits if so!
