WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Dec 07

WideWebWitch · 09/12/2007 21:34

This is week 1 again of the tenth WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007 (clearly we haven't been keeping terribly good track etc but never mind!)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Batters, glad you got some time to 'chat' and lol at my good taste in husbands, I thank yew. I think it was Joan Rivers who said something like "whenever I wonder whether he's the man I'll marry I think 'Is This the man I want my kids to spend every other weekend with?'" Pringles and wine sounds great on the happiness front.

Marina, I'm glad you had some social type happiness. 100 must have been said by small child, so agree, it doesn't count

Tigermoth, how lovely, I hope it's great fun

Dino, congrats on the new job and hope the hangover's gone by the time you read this

Winnie, nice to see you, that sounds like a lovely outing and yes, you must make it to a meet one of these days.

Unknownrelbang, glad you had a lovely day

I had a lovely time at Drakes in Brighton, so my confessions:

Yesterday

100g granola
2 marmite sandwiches
an apple
water
walking on commute
no sunscreen
goose breast with horseradish cream
duck breast with honey
a bottle of Champagne
lots of lolling
lots of sleep
lovely white fresh kingsize bed to myself
high on relaxation front

Today
2 sausages
2 bacon
black pudding
toast x 2, thick butter, jam
a packet of jelly babies on the train (380 cal )
a mini scotch egg from M&S, brought them back for ds
tonight we're having lobster and Champagne

But my eyes are clear and I am v cheerful after my little break so that's all lovely.

hello all, just signing in briefly as I have a dollar to use up on one of those pay as you go internet thingies. I'm still on holiday and having a wonderful time although the bootcamping is well and truly out of the window (with the exception of suncream). There is now no routine whatsoever for DS and the poor love had a temprature a couple of days in but is fighting fit now. Will be back in Oz by Thursday so will catch up with you all then.

cerys · 16/12/2007 10:47

hello all. Happiness still high as I saw 3 Christmas plays in 3 days and they were all gorgeous.
We have had builders in for 2 weeks, converting our garage into a room, but they have now gone and DH and I spent a wild Saturday night cleaning and sorting and moving furniture . The children now have a playroom and we have a decluttered living room. I think most of the dust has now gone...

DS has finished his playgroup now but the DDs don't break up until Friday. But DH is off until 2nd January

Going for lunch today with Italian friends who are very good cooks. If I moisturise and put handcream on before, do I get half a Bootcamp point?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/12/2007 12:47

Hello all, hope you're having lovely weekends. We visited PILs yesterday and were confronted with heaving table of Sainsburys buffet food. Apart from the triple chocolate gateau, I mostly ate chicken, ham & salad so quite good considering. I also had a small piece of Brie, which was heavenly but very norty for pregnant woman. And no booze.

DCs are all annoying me today, they wouldn't tidy up after being asked and later, threatened several times. Result is that I'm not taking them to get the Christmas tree.

I shall spend the rest of the frosty afternoon cleaning out the various animals instead. Time spent with the chickens is always good for the soul.

And I have half a pot of Dove hand balm on as protection against the cold. Will do something similar with my face!

unknownrebelbang · 16/12/2007 23:20

I've had a bit of a mare of a weekend, interspersed with good bits, lol. Think the impending visit from my dad and the w stepmama put me in a mood in the first place. Still they've been and gone now, so that's sorted.

BIL is in hospital with rheum athritis. Don't see him that much tbh, but SIL helps do a few bits for FIL, so me and DH have had to help out a bit this weekend, not a problem at all, except it's more stuff to do when we're already stretched to the limit. Thankfully FIL is fairly self-sufficient and not at all demanding, and I really don't mind helping out, just the time element, and the guilt feeling because we're going away and BIL, even when he comes home, will be bed-ridden for the timebeing.

Just call me "James", running the blasted boys around all weekend, and DS1 had a major strop yesterday (at karate) I wasn't there, but I've obviously had to deal with the fallout. Anyway, he's a bit better today, but still a bit fragile.

Did manage to get out for a meal last night with some friends, food was naff to be honest (thankfully I wasn't paying and I think/hope the bloke who was complained).

DH sent me to giddy heights this afternoon by treating me to scampi in Morrison's (oh I know how to live, oh yes I do) whilst the boys were bagpacking.

Roll on next weekend.

Am struggling with christmas arrangements and keeping both ILs and my parents happy. Oh, and my BIL etc. All melting down a bit. Looks like we are going to end up in N London and then off to Peterborough for new year. Am back to work on 2nd. WIll spend most of time before then in transit it seems.

Am walking lots, eating well but not much of the others. Hope to do better in next couple of weeks, ha ha. Used lots of handcream today so that's a start. Hands now only about 10 years older than the rest of me.

tigermoth · 19/12/2007 08:00

lol batters! Hope it was a mouthwatering indian takeaway!

WWW your weekend sounds divine.

unknownrebelbang, I am so much a chauffeur to my sons at weekends. What with that and sitting behind a desk monday to friday, I have to make a conscientious effort to do some exercise. Still, this should be easier in the new year. A new leisure centre/library has opened near us. I went to look at it last night with ds1. As well as a big swimming pool, there's a steam room (I love steam rooms), and library with internet access (open every day including sundays) and also under 16s gym serssions in the fitness room which will suit ds1. It opens up all sorts of weekend possibilities. Must remember when I go that I am there to swim as well as sneaking onto the computers to mumsnet.

tigermoth · 19/12/2007 08:08

oh yes, forgot to say that Lapland was fab! From a bootcamp point of view it was pretty exhausting, despite lots of sitting around on aeroplanes and being fed three cooked meals during the day. Santa's 'home' was in a snowy pine forest, set on hills so lots of truding back and forth to see husky dogs, sleighs, snowmobiles, reindeer, etc. All very magical! Strangely, lapland was warmer than London on Saturday and the only time I was cold was when we returned to London Bridge station at 1.00 am and spend a freezing half hour queueing up for a black cab. I got chilled to the bone - ds1 had more clothing on so was better protected. It took me all of sunday to test and defrost.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/12/2007 12:03

Glad you enjoyed Lapland tigermoth. It is freezing here isn't it. My fingers are barely working properly and my car isn't working at all. Mechanic trying to start it now but all 3 DCs are at home this morning hoping they can't get to school...

I have nearly finished Christmas shopping so happiness is good! LOTS OF HAND & FACE CREAM as I'm out in the cold a lot. Drinking lots of water at the moment too.

I started this post about 2 hours ago. Car still not fixed and DCs still at home. I am now very behind with chores and happiness beginning to ebb. Grrrrrr.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 19/12/2007 12:04

Batters, I want your life

Hopefully I will finally be back online at home tomorrow ... HURRAH!!!

Not much to report bootcampwise. It's all rather dire Although I am still pampering myself and I am generally happier.

Merry Christmas everyone

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 21/12/2007 16:35

I also drank my bodyweight in cava last night but sadly unlike Batters I feel pants. Had to eat lard and carbs to improve. Went to Wimbledon C'mas shopping and seem to have bought half a ton of stuff. Got 11 bags on the back of the buggy - result.

HAve a wonderful christmas everyone - take care and enjoy yourselves. Love X

unknownrebelbang · 21/12/2007 22:42

Evening everyone.

Sooo glad that work is over for this year. It's been pretty crud one way or another, and it's going to get worse, but hey that's next year.

DS1's test results have come back ok, and DH results from a rigorous medical a couple of months ago are pretty much within range, and his cholesterol has come down to within range just by altering his diet slightly, so that's great.

Well, I didn't manage a stone, but I did manage to lost half a stone, due in no small part to signing in here, so thanks for the support folks, it's much appreciated.

The boys are, as you can imagine, quite hyper and very excited, but then DH is just as bad, lol.

I wish every one of you a lovely, peaceful Christmas and very best wishes for 2008.

bamamama · 22/12/2007 00:57

hello all. I'm back after a wonderful 3 weeks in NZ to a mountain of washing and no Christmas shopping bought.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year and expect to see everyone returning, suitably penitent (sp?) for the seasons excesses in January.

xx

tigermoth · 24/12/2007 10:02

Happy Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a lovely time, with peace, goodwill and cava flowing freely.

I am in the library in Kingsbridge, which closes today till the new year. I am on the hunt for internet access elsewhere round here. Wish me luck!
