If you have (aging) hooded eyes which mascara do you recommend?

I have searched for the perfect mascara my whole life, and the search is still going!

I have very hooded eyes (getting worse in my 40's) and mascara always rubs off on my upper eyelid. I also require long lashes otherwise they can't be seen due to the hooded lid. I've tried expensive mascaras like Lancôme hypnose, Armani, and Estee Lauder sumptuous extreme. These do a good job with lengthening but they all rub off and give me panda eyes, even the waterproof versions.

The only one that never rubs off is the Wunder Extensions, but this is highly waterproof fibre stuff which has made my lashes so short and stumpy! Its so tough to clean off it would survive a nuclear war, so I don't think it's doing my lashes any good!

Can anyone with hooded eyes recommend a mascara that would fulfil my needs?!

Get an LVL lash lift at a salon.

ArranMumma · 15/10/2021 13:03

With a tint

I feel your pain op. I have hooded eyes that are defo getting worse with age! I was thinking of an LVL lash lift too Arran, but not got round to it yet. I use Lancôme Monsieur Big op, with a primer on my lids - usually urban decay, then a little powder. That works really well for me - no smudging on my eye lids and the mascara is great for thickening and lengthening

With the LVL lash you can just apply mascara to the roots of your lashes and then keep the tips free of mascara so it doesn’t rub off on your lids Grin

Oooh @ArranMumma - that sounds great! My local nail place does LVL - must give it a go

I use diorshow waterproof as have same issue c hooded eyelids and v watery eyes also let wet mascara dry and rub gentle away with a clean spoolie rather than rubbing when it’s wet. I also curl my lashes too, a lash lift would be ideal if you can find somewhere to do it.

Eyeko in the blue tube works well for my hooded eyes and doesn't come off.

Maybelline yellow tube with mauve writing on it or No7 sparkly gold tube. Both excellent.

I have hooded eyes plus they are sensitive and water all the while, my latest find which stays put and gives great length is Bourjois Waterproof Volume Reveal, doesn't damage my lashes either.

Gonnagetgoing · 15/10/2021 16:02

Dior waterproof is nice but Maybelline Snapscara is also very good (recommended on here).

My eyes aren't hooded though, mascara just smudges on them easily now I'm older.

The leasr smudgy mascara I've ever found is Hourglass Caution Extreme. It's Not Cheap, but it does come in a small travel size, as well as full size, which is better for trying out out

Hakunapotato · 16/10/2021 02:59

You need a tubing mascara. The best two I’ve got are EL doublewear (sumptuous on the other hand smudges like mad) and No.7 stay perfect though it can be a bit crunchy. If you want more volume use primer

OxanaVorontsova · 16/10/2021 03:47

Another vote for hourglass caution extreme, stays put all day

Ozanj · 16/10/2021 04:24

IT cosmetics undereye concealer covers up mascara smudges. I used it yesterday as a last ditch attempt.

madisonbridges · 16/10/2021 04:29

Tubing mascara. I use L'Oréal double effect. You never get any smudges.

Kintsugi16 · 16/10/2021 04:31

Use a serum and then tint them

CrisisManagement · 16/10/2021 04:33

Yep, Hourglass is the only one I've tried that doesn't smudge.
