I have just started using some of their products and so far they seem ok. Anyone else use them?
I'm using retinol, hyalauric acid, argilene solution and the buffet with copper peptides. Not all at the same time though😁Good, and or indifferent?😕

Yes I am it's made a massive difference to my normally spotty skin. I've been using the balance starter kit.

SuperSange · 11/10/2021 05:40

I use some of their stuff; I love the hyaluronic acid.

Nightbringer · 11/10/2021 05:47

I use some of their stuff. Retinol, the caffeine serum, the HA. I have that Red one that's a treatment but haven't tried it yet.

I think its decent stuff. Works well with my skin.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 11/10/2021 05:51

I am. IMO "Its fine"

The moisturiser is a good cheap basic but i cant say "wow what a difference". Hyluronic acid is no better/worse but is cheaper.

The suncreen is awfulĺy heavy (but v similar to an incredibly expensive/"good" one i bought and also hated)

NotJustACigar · 11/10/2021 06:21

Brilliant, love the retinoid in squalene and the buffet in particular but all their skin care is good and value for money.

Geamhradh · 11/10/2021 06:38

Hated everything I tried. The vitamin C was probably the skincare product I've hated most, the HA is gloppy and slimy (and quantity wise works out more expensive than other HAs like Hada Labo.
I'm Hmm about their "helpful" staff who will tell you you need 8 products and the whole one ingredient in one bottle thing makes you think you're getting a bargain, when you're paying exactly the same as you would for one bottle of serum that contains everything.
They're also known for being a tad "unclear" about their ingredients (ie 2% wrt retinoid needs dividing by 10 to get the actual % of active ingredient) They are being a bit more transparent about that since some of the beauty journalists called them out on it though.

Some people love the products. Personally, I've had better. DD is 18 and uses the Niacinamide.

CargoBobbie · 11/10/2021 06:49

I'm am using the niacinamide, retinol, glycolic acid and 100% squalane as a moisturiser.

I've been suffering with painful modular acne for years. Tried absolutely everything and nothing worked.

I'm 3 months in using the above products and it's pretty much cured my acne. I can't quite believe it some days!

AntennaReborn · 11/10/2021 07:05

I have been using TO for a couple of years now and it has made a huge difference to my skin

I credit the retinol in squalane for helping me get rid off the cystic acne I used to get around my chin and jawline.

I also use azelaic acid, HA, niacinamide and buffet almost daily

When needed I also use alpha arbutin and b oil

It took me a little while to work out exactly which products were right for me, but now that I have there's no going back!

CouldWeStartAgainPlease · 11/10/2021 07:29

I wasn't a fan. Used one of the skincare things (HA I think) and it was neither here nor there. Used one of their foundations and it wasn't right for me - far too runny.

Thecatsbutler · 11/10/2021 08:36

Thanks for the varied responses. I use Eucerin normally and still use their moisturisers. Thought I'd give the ordinary a go though. I'll keep using what I have and see what,if anything, changes.

I like the Vit C serum that everyone hates. It actually works at brightening my skin overnight and I've not found an other that does. I also use the retinols which I don't really know if they are working because its an accumulative/preventative effect they have anyway but it feels nice so I don't hate them.

snazzynamechangetiming · 11/10/2021 13:48

Any of you with acne tried not washing your face so much? This is going to sound gross but I don't wash my face at night just in the shower with water only. I found that all the products were in stroking my skin then added back moisturiser because it felt tight and dry made it worse. I only wear eye makeup and remove that with moisturiser on cotton wool.

CommonRoom · 11/10/2021 13:56

I think they have made a huge difference to my skin. In fact I noticed yesterday when looking through old photos that I can tell when I started using them.

For me, the Vit C 23% made a big difference very quickly. My skin has always looked a bit dull and it really does brighten. I also use rose hip seed oil which has a gorgeous consistency which works very well on my skin. At night I use the retinol 5% with HA.

Retinoid 5%? It won't be Retinol. Not at that % Your face would drop off. If it's granactive retinoid you need to divide the % by 10 to get the actual amount of active product. That's fine, it's a good, entry level non irritating product, but this is what people mean about their labelling.
MissyB1 · 11/10/2021 15:25

I use their Rosehip facial oil, I love it!

Not washing my face as much made mine worse unfortunately.
Idontlike · 11/10/2021 18:30

I use their peeling solution once a week -love it.

I’ve just bought the hemi-squalane -I have no clue what this is but it absorbs amazingly into the skin and you can apply to damp hair too. I’m loving it so far.
www.boots.com/the-ordinary-plant-derived-hemi-squalane-30ml-10286194

I’m about to order their retinol -the lowest % one as I know you have to build up tolerance.

I think the problem with the ordinary is the range is huge and there is no way to be able to use it all at the same time!

SlamLikeAGuitar · 11/10/2021 18:32

I tried a couple of products and it didn’t seem to make all that much difference to the overall state of my skin.
But I have stuck with the AHA/BHA peeling solution which I use once a week, and I use their SPF every day and I really like those two!

RobinPenguins · 11/10/2021 18:36

I’ve been underwhelmed by most stuff but I do like the red peeling solution.

Eminybob · 11/10/2021 18:41

I use the caffeine eye serum and the red face peel, both of which I really like.

I bought the retinol in squaline with high hopes as I’m a big retinol fan, but found it far too greasy for my skin type.

HermioneWeasley · 11/10/2021 20:14

I have tried loads of their stuff and now love the following for my oily spot prone skin

Retinol in squalene
Niacinimide
Glycolic acid
Red chemical treatment (BHA?)

Thecatsbutler · 11/10/2021 21:32

I agree with the range being a bit overwhelming. It is definitely hard to choose which products to use, what can and can't be used together is a bit of a minefield too. I think trial and error might be the only way to go.
Since it's so inexpensive I don't mind buying something to try and it's not the end of the world if I don't like it.

dudsville · 11/10/2021 21:58

I've tried a lot over the last few years. Like any brand, it suits some and not others. My standards are the glycolic acid, HA (the gloopy one), and the buffet. I try new things from time to time. Currently I have the red peeling solution, but I won't repurchase once it's used up. For my skin the lumene brightening mask is just a good and smells amazing and feels good on my skin. You just have to find what works for you.

I prefer The Inkey List.
They are (self confessed) inspired by The Ordinary, but cheaper and they emphasise educating customers on skincare/ingredients/how to use etc
