Good under eye concealer for shockingly bad dark circles

Can anyone recommend one that is good for dealing with the dark circles i've always had, but are now looking more pronounced post menopause, and won't cake/crease or highlight the fine lines around my eyes? I've noticed my skin tone has changed in the past year or so and the circles are more noticeable than ever and make me look really knackered :/

@Kimonolady

I recently bought the Cle de Peau concealer stick, having read so much about it online being the Holy Grail concealer, the only thing to defeat dark under eye circles, completely unique, etc. etc. It’s £54, which is… absolutely horrendous. I had an out of body experience as I handed over my credit card. But - and I hate to say it, given the price - it truly does work. Blends really beautifully, covers up my dreadful dark circles inherited from my dad, and just looks so natural and skin-like. A tiny dab is all you need, so that’s how I’m mentally justifying the insane price tag. The day I bought it, I met up with a friend for dinner in the evening - the very first thing she said to me was ‘You look really good, kind of glowing? I can’t put my finger on it.’ That was it, I was sold!
Is there any way of getting a sample of this or buying a small sized one?
Greytminds · 15/10/2021 16:29

@Kimonolady did you buy it at Harrods?

What are the colours like? I’m also keen to try it but it’s so hard to order online and I can’t imagine I will get to London any time soon.

Kimonolady · 16/10/2021 12:37

@Greytminds I did! I think they’re the only in-person stockist, otherwise you have to buy online. Sorry, I’ve not seen anything about samples.
I’ve just looked at the website and see they have a dozen shades, which is a surprise because when I went in-store they only had 3 (and I’ve read online criticism previously about them not being inclusive enough in terms of skin tones.) I think the other 9 must be new.
For what it’s worth, I wear beige (and have fair, warm-toned skin - I wear Bobbi Brown foundation in beige.)

I recently bought Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It's a creamy texture with a wand type applicator

I have the same issue and have tried to so many under eye concealers over the years, but I'm quite impressed with this one. Doesn't crease or dry up. Lasts all day and isn't expensive. Think it was under £4

BippityBoppity87 · 16/10/2021 17:12

Also for the more high end, I really like Yves Saint Laurent highlighter as well

A highlighter isn't good for people with proper dark circles. You want to conceal, not highlight and draw attention.
BippityBoppity87 · 17/10/2021 11:42

@Gwenhwyfar It does conceal. I have dark circles and it works well without creasing and adding more prominent lines, like most under eye concealers seem to do

BippityBoppity87 · 17/10/2021 11:47

Ah I think I've got it mixed up. I'm talking about the high cover concealer

Zipkey · 17/10/2021 11:53

Too faced born this way concealer. Expensive but only thing that sorts my darkness and doesn’t show wrinkles/fine lines or smudge

BusterGonad · 20/10/2021 09:44

Highlighter concealers are no good for BAGS but are perfect for dark circles as they reflect the light off of them, so with bags they will make them look worse. The best concealer for bags is one that's a shade darker than your usual one, the darkness will 'hide' the bags and make them look smaller. Using a pale concealer on bags will only high light their puffiness.

Disagree with this. Highlighter will just draw attention to the under eye area, which you don't want if you have dark circles. They also won't conceal the dark circles. They might work if you only have very light ones, but not for proper dark circles.
NoYOUbekind · 20/10/2021 18:58

Becca with a bit of Bobbi Brown over the top does work, but now I'm hitting 50 everything goes into the creases. Should I be setting it with with powder, does anyone think?

harriethoyle · 20/10/2021 19:39

@Kimonolady I'm very tempted by the cle... if you've ever used the BB colour corrector would you mind me asking what shade you were?

BusterGonad · 20/10/2021 21:06

I have to disagree again, if you put on highlighter type concealer (touché eclat) on as the final part of your make up it will hide dark circles. So after applying foundation. I obviously wouldn't apply a highlighting stick intended for cheeks etc but a highlighter style concealer will work on dark circles after foundation. If you have huge dark circles then you'll obviously need a thicker type concealer like Benefit Bo-ing but for normal dark circles, foundation then a highlighting pen. It's always worked for me. The best I've found is the Dior one in the silver pen. I don't actually use them anymore as I find them so expensive.

Kimonolady · 22/10/2021 10:30

@harriethoyle ooh do give it a go, I really like it.
I used to use Bobbi Brown creamy corrector in medium bisque, but that was a long time ago (almost a decade) and I’m not sure if they haven’t changed the names of the shades since then. Hope that helps!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 22/10/2021 12:03

Irish brand Ayu have a lovely concealer. If you go onto the site and look at the videos you can see how well it works.

Ok, but if you don't have bad dark circles you're probably not the best person to be giving advice on it.
herecomesthsun · 22/10/2021 21:08

I do have bad under eye dark circles and have a peach coloured concealer for Dior that helps quite a bit.

herecomesthsun · 22/10/2021 22:11

Sorry, just checked, it is in fact Chanel and in "abricot". I think it was £28 but only 2.5ml.

harriethoyle · 23/10/2021 07:59

Thanks @Kimonolady I've bought a 3 colour sample on Ebay so hopefully I'll work out which I am!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 23/10/2021 08:02

You need a corrector

Bobbi brown and benefit brightening (formerly erase paste) great

knitknack · 24/10/2021 15:54

Just an update: I bought the EX1 delete fluid after the recommendation on here and I can’t rate it highly enough! It’s phenomenally pigmented and applies beautifully AND so far, hasn’t settled into fine lines (I haven’t powdered it’s yet, which usually does accentuate lines - I’m 49). I have a drawer upstairs with the NARS, the new stilla concealer, double wear, IT bye bye bags… you name it I’ve probably tried it!

I’m NW15, use shade 2 in mist foundations such as Chanel, Dior, bourjois etc and I got shade 2 which is a perfect match for me (I’m more bothered by bags than dark circles). I bought it from ASOS.

Huge thanks to itssunnyoutside :)

bookish83 · 24/10/2021 17:19

Nars was a bit runny for my liking
Mac in a pot is good
Collection is my holy grail concealer though
