Really struggling to find wedding guest dresses I like at the moment (that are in my size and not too expensive).

There are some wrap and shirt style dresses I like, but not sure if they're too casual. Is the one in the link ok?

That's really lovely. Both colour and style. I don't suit that style of neck though.

The dress I've gone for is knee length and V-neck. It flatters me more.

Being small & top heavy is a nightmare when buying dresses.

@TheYearOfSmallThings

Last wedding (fairly low key) I wore this dress from Phase 8 with heels and a nice bag. Nothing exciting but no need for body tape!
Sorry, I meant to quote.

I think you could find a nicer version of the same dress, but yes fine for a wedding.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/10/2021 21:03

Thinking about it, my breasts did make the dress less elegant on me, but I still looked pretty good, and I'm sure you do too!

It looks to me like a summer dress for a posh lunch. I'd be looking more at jacquard fabrics for a winter wedding dress. Anything that will work with tights and an evening coat

I agree with this - doesn’t seem “substantial” enough - bit flimsy, flappy and flowery.
SionnachRua · 06/10/2021 21:16

I do like it but it says summer wedding to me, not winter (and even at that I'd be buying it going "oh a pretty sundress I can glam up" - it's on the casual end of things). I prefer a heavier fabric for winter weddings to try stave off the freezing cold Grin

The wedding is in a week and a half so more autumnal. I am trying to avoid summery dresses but there are so many out there! Everything is pastels and florals.

If you like a wrap dress and don't mind wearing pre loved (or can afford full price) go for a Diane Von Furstenburg dress. She 'created the wrap dress'. I'm trying to be more ethical and sustainable with my shopping so only but preloved and managed to get a beautiful DVF on eBay for £20 (over £120 new) it's like new, pure silk, fits like a dream and just below the knee. I love it! Enjoy the wedding

Try hope and ivy OP, i got a dress from there for a wedding after putting on a bit of lockdown weight and it was very flattering

I think it's lovely (and I think that's Joe Wick's wife wearing it)!!

“The Estee” on the hope and Ivy website is more suitable IMO and a good price

Mamamamasaurus · 07/10/2021 08:57

It's very low cut for a wedding and the pattern made my eyes hurt

Funny you should say that, that's exactly the one I liked from that link!

Thank you @Famousinlove

It’s much nicer IMO.
