As title, I need a comfy pair of knee high boots that look nice and I've had my eye on these for ages! Are they as good as they look?

I have a pair of the heeled Regina in mahogany leather - I like them, but I don't really understand the obsession with them and, as they've gone up a lot in price since I bought mine, I'm not convinced I'd buy them again.

Pros - they're extremely comfortable, beautiful leather

Cons - the orange lining does leak dye onto light trousers/socks, mine have sagged (admittedly I haven't looked after them terribly well with boot trees etc. but I've also not trashed them) so look a bit battered these days, the tassels fall off all the time (they replace them free of charge, but it's a pain), I don't find they look that great with that many outfits.

I'm not sure the Regina are worth the hype tbh - they're cut so they sit at an awkward point on most people's knees and create a knee bulge, which isn't super flattering. It's not terrible, but most people I've seen have it to some degree, I do and mine zip up easily and aren't remotely tight anywhere else. They're also really commonplace these days, not that that's a problem, but it does detract a bit from having a really lovely pair of boots when you're one among hundreds in the same place.

Maybe consider some of their other pairs? I have a pair of the F&F knee high Rockinghams and I much prefer them - they're far more flattering on the leg as they're cut higher on the sides of the knee so you don't get the knee bulge.

Look at similar styles from other companies.Rydale make a similar boot for about half the price

I have a couple of pairs and they fit beautifully but then my calves are 35cm. I’ve just bought the Belgravias and think they are actually a much classier looking boot. My original Reginas are 6 years old so not leather lined and were much cheaper than my later ones. Like everything when companies get bigger I don’t think the quality is quite what it was. The same I feel is true of other companies such as DuBarry unfortunately.
Are you looking for smart boots, everyday boots or weather proof type boots?

I love mine, I think they're beautiful boots. They get a lot of flak for their social media following, which granted, can be a bit full on. I think as long as you order the boots in the correct size (check the website for narrow/sporting fit and whether you need to size up/down) then you can't go wrong with them. They're expensive but they're really really lovely boots

What are you planning to wear them with?

I went for a pair of ariats in the end - £260 plus they are waterproof!!

Beautiful boots @OrlandointheWilderness, do they zip up the back or do you have to lace them every time?

OrlandointheWilderness · 13/10/2021 13:11

@Justonedayatatime11 they zip up the back. You adjust laces to fit first time though
