What are you wearing to the office this autumn/ winter?

As thread title says… I’m a bit lost for inspiration. What are you wearing?

No idea! All my work clothes look suddenly hopelessly dated. Smart work dresses with a jacket and heels - I would look ridiculous if I wore that now.
I think it's a double whammy of not just updating your wardrobe a bit, but work clothes seem to be a lot more casual.
I wore jeans and a jumper when I went into the office last time. Smartish, but still ...not quite the professional look I'm going for. I didn't feel under dressed though.

I think that’s it exactly - what I used to wear just looks quite dated now. Definitely seems a bit more casual although not jeans. (Also I’ve lost a bit of weight/ having an early mid-life crisis and taking a renewed interest in my appearance.)

I've got a couple of midi dresses, with tights and ankle boots.
Some cropped culottes with fitted jumper or tucked in sleeveless blouse (i tend to run warm).

Piranesio · 03/10/2021 09:09

I'm in black jeans and ankle boots most days. Or tube skirts and a jumper. But I have to wear safety shoes on occasion, so midi skirts and dresses are a massive nono.

Midi dresses, tights and flat ankle boots.

Usernamechanged · 03/10/2021 09:29

What do you wear on feet/ lower legs with culottes? (I run cold!)

@tiredanddangerous

Midi dresses, tights and flat ankle boots.
What do you do for a winter coat with that combo? I always wear with a denim jacket in summer but struggle in winter and feel like I end up looking quite dowdy!

I wear knee high socks in a contrast colour and ankle boots. I also like the look of knee high boots but I struggle with them because of my chunky calves!!

I've just started a new job and it's a smart dress code. It's so difficult after years of smart casual, everything seems so old fashioned and there's not much choice in this style.

I've been wearing cropped wide leg trousers or cropped slim legs with fine knit jumper or blouse. MIDI dresses and flats.

Struggling to find my new look though.

Usernamechanged · 03/10/2021 10:44

Culottes are talking to me. Has anyone found any good ones?

I've bought some slim flare black trousers. Wearing with low heeled ankle boots and a slouchy blazer/fitted t-shirt.

Ankle length slightly baggy trousers with ankle boots and a more fitted jacket.

I bought this dress which I wore with heeled knee high boots and felt good in.

Glad it's not just me struggling with this! I'm in a management role and Pre-Covid I mostly wore shirts tucked into smart trousers but colleagues are now turning up in jeans and it's suddenly more casual.

I'm a bit lost but can't justify a whole new work wardrobe especially as I'll be working from home some days Confused

I bought some cropped dark blue trousers which I wore last week with jersey tops and that felt more suitable than tailored trousers. Smart casual seems much harder to get right!

RosesAndHellebores · 03/10/2021 11:46

Cropped trousers, wrap tops, simple dresses, opaques, ankle boots or loafers.

TheCategoryIs · 03/10/2021 12:35

I'm seeing dresses with black trainers which seem to look about right. No tights as yet which would change the look a bit. Personally I'm going to keep doing skinnies (cords but jeans now too as it's all got so casual) and ankle boots with a top and cardigan.

I’m back in 50% and so far outfits have been:

Midi dresses with trainers or DM monkey boots
Leather skirt with fine knit jumper, opaque tights, trainers
Black barrel leg jeans with Breton top or fine knit jumper

I’m a lecturer and we have to keep all the windows open for Covid ventilation (plus in Scotland where it feels more like winter than autumn already) so I think layers are going to be a big part of my work outfits!

(Trainers are black leather Stan Smith or Veja btw.)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/10/2021 12:45

Oh, I also have really nice tapered cords from Cos and Hush which will be coming into rotation soon.
