Looking for help please.

I need a dress to wear as a wedding guest for my cousin’s November wedding. I’m a 12-14, 5’6 and hour glass figure but a bit chunky of thigh. Just to help you build a mental picture! I’m 40.

I prefer below the knee, midi is good. I like a sleeve but my arms are ok so sleeveless also fine. I have no idea what colours suit me. I don’t mind pattern but I’m an introvert so prefer my clothes to be quite plain.

Budget up to £150 but would prefer to stay under £100. Can anybody suggest anything?

I’m having a similar problem. In the autumn I think you need a dress that goes with a long coat. Possibly boots instead of shoes.

I’ve got a couple of lovely wool winter coats and also a short faux fur jacket so I think one of those will be fine over a dress. For footwear I was thinking a heeled court, but depends on the dress. A boot is an interesting idea. Still need a dress though 😅

I have just bought this wine satin midi from Ghost at m and s. It is really flattering on. I think it would be perfect for a wedding .

@Picassosdove that’s lovely! How low is it in the front? I’ve got 34dd boobs and do t like to be too plunging at the front on account of that.

I am just a C cup and it covered me well. Just a pretty v neck really. Just a touch Too low for work, but I am quite a modest dresser and it feels modest enough for me. The satin is a good weight so you could also wear a silk cami beneath.

Popsy! They can seem a little less formal but some people have worn with an underskirt and they look fab! They show real life customer models on the website and FB group so you can get an Idea of fit before you buy, which I love. Most have sleeves and pockets

@CaddieDawg thanks so much for the suggestion. Just looked up the popsy website, it’s all a bit bright and bold for my taste unfortunately. Who’d have known you could get a dress patterned with chipmunks! I know several women who’d look good in them but not me. The search continues.

Have you had a look at Silk Fred? I've seen some dresses perfect for wedding guests on their Instagram account. Obviously it's difficult buying online to check quality, but you've got time to order and return?
