HELP!!!!!! I'm having a dilemma about tights of all things

Ok so dh xmas doo is the event of the year and Ive been planning outfit for ages.

I have bought

this dress

and

these shoes

the problem is what tights do i wear. I had thought plain opaque but think they look a bit too much of a block colour because the dress is very plain. So could I get away with patterened tights?

I'd wear skin coloured tights. You know like natural tan from M&S or something.

fishie · 04/12/2007 09:59

you could look at these in gold i've got silver ones they're nice. not sure how tights would work with peep toe though?

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 04/12/2007 10:03

I think these

lou33 · 04/12/2007 10:04

just sheer black i think with a clear toe

mosschops30 · 04/12/2007 10:05

do you think a skin colour would look a bit weird with the champagne colour on the shoes though?
I like the idea of gold metallic but again may not work with the shoes

No! Do you match your shoes in summer to your skin colour? It will just look like you have nice tanned legs.

womblingalong · 04/12/2007 10:06

I think balck opaques would look great, v on trend and warm too, or else could you get away with/would you be keen on a coloured tight? I wouldn't do a pattern IMHO, except for maybe a discreet fishnet.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 04/12/2007 10:10

I agree that black would look nice too though.

mosschops30 · 04/12/2007 10:10

true ledodgy! I can see me buying about 15 pairs of tights now

I was thinking like a large honeycomb pattern (pretty polly have some lovely ones) or a fishnet (but worries may look slutty)

the black opaques I bought are lovely and £15 but worth it, very shiny and on-trend. But all looks too black IYSWIM

I don't think pattern tights will work with the shoes.

womblingalong · 04/12/2007 10:14

Mossy,

I work on Pretty Polly, and you are right they are nice . If you do a micro fishnet, they woun't look slutty at all, esp with shoes and dress

mosschops30 · 04/12/2007 10:15

Hmmmm who'd have thought that all this hassle would be over tights!! At least last year it was stress over the actual outfit

I have some nice ones from John Lewis; black with feint lines down (supposed to make legs look longer) Lush dress and shoes - I would go for simple sheer black or natural to keep attention on shoes and dress!! Have fun!!

EffiePerine · 04/12/2007 13:47

The dress is amazing. I don't people will really notice your tights

christmosschops30 · 05/12/2007 10:40

thank you effie .

I did try the opaque on again last night and micro-fishnet but neither me, or dd or dh can decide which is best.

I am also gonna buy some nude sheer tights and just take them all I think and decide when I'm getting dressed with the help of one of my best friends who is also at same event
