Cover up to go with this dress for wedding

I have this dress which I plan to wear for a wedding next month: www.endource.com/product/and-other-stories-relaxed-pleated-midi-dress/XsPsBcnnfAABQdzN

I need some sort of cover up and was thinking a cream fur bolero type thing... what do you think?! And also - is it ok to wear a cream cover up to a wedding?! With the long covid-induced break from weddings, I've suddenly forgotten what's acceptable 😬

Any other ideas gratefully received too!

Is fur a bit wintery? Depends on where you are I guess.

alexaplayfrozenmusic · 08/09/2021 12:34

Yes perhaps! I'm in London - I had imagined autumn would be fully here by the end of next month but perhaps it'll look too wintery. I was planning on wearing it instead of a coat...

I don't think cream fur would be right for that and I'd avoid cream.

What about a cropped bolero jacket?

Luckingfovely · 08/09/2021 12:42

Definitely not cream fur - that's what brides always wear at winter weddings, it will look very confused.

A short, fitted, waterfall jacket in cream suede might work (I have one from Zara and it would go great).

But not a bolero unless it's an 80s themed wedding GrinWink

And with the photo - something like this, but make sure it is nipped in at the waist to give you shape, and as short as possible.

Beautiful dress. Love the colour

Kintsugi16 · 08/09/2021 21:41

How else are you planning on accessorise it?

Vickles20 · 08/09/2021 22:01

Lovely dress. I wore something like this with a denim jacket for a super hot summer outdoor informal wedding.
However. For yours. Monsoon do shrugs. I like their metallic ones.
Or look at Coast’s sequin shrug. Depends how fancy you want to go.
Go for a darker colour than cream. Faux fur ones look nice though too.

Lovely dress. The sleeves make it tricky so I might be tempted to wear a shawl or something.

What is Endource?

ODFOx · 08/09/2021 22:18

The jacket ideas are great but not with the sleeves on your dress. Go shawl or shrug but not cream. It's gorgeous: you could team it with a bin bag with slits up the sides and it would still be gorgeous. Great find!

I think that’s a tricky dress for an October wedding… it’s very Spring / summer in style and colour. I think you could clash it slightly with those warm tans / ginger/ spice colours to make it more autumnal. I think a kimono jacket will follow the lines of the neck & give you room for the sleeve. A fitted sleeve isn’t going to work.

I love the dress, but I really don't think it's appropriate for an October wedding, sorry. It's quite casual and summer in style.

Elouera · 09/09/2021 00:03

I'm clearly in the minority, but that dress to me is shapeless, thin and looks more 'casual picnic' than a guest wedding dress! Is it an extremely, casual wedding?

A furry bolero would be too wintery, and wouldn't go with this dress. What about a pashmina wrapped around your shoulders if you need to go outside? You could get a brooch or pin to secure it.

Divebar2021 · 09/09/2021 00:07

I like the loose shape of the black coat on the left but with a leopard print.

….. or a similar kimono jacket in more autumn colours. There’s loads around this year

Vickles20 · 09/09/2021 11:18

I disagree. I think the dress is appropriate for a wedding. However. It is the shrug/jacket that will ‘make it’.
