Shorter haircut at 43 ..is it aging?

I have superfine hair but no bald patches yet. Have grown it long past my shoulders but imo it just emphasises the fine qyality of my hair. Im thinking of a shorter cut....a bob rather than a pixie cut for now ...my jawline has softened and jowls not too obvious but wanting to start. What dya rekon? I also have a fringe and dont want to look too severe...perhaps a short shaggy bob.

On the vast majority of people a pixie is ageing. I had one for years and when I look back on old photos I'm horrified. Unless you are gamine, very young or have fantastic cheek bones they can look awful and are really expensive to maintain. I now have shoulder length curls and everyone says I look younger and more fashionable.

The best way of having short hair without it looking aging is having a really short undercut at the back and sides. Mine is my natural colour (dark brown) underneath and then the longer hair on top is bleached. I've also had a lot of compliments about this from friends and acquaintances. Am early 40s.

@Coffeepot72

I really hoped that I would look younger with short hair. But I just looked practical/sensible ☹️
I would look like that too. In my head I would look edgy like Vicky McClure, but in reality I’d look…well, not like Vicky McClure, that’s for sure.

Agree with @broccolibush that hair wax is a must - without it, my hair looks like a newsreaders helmet...! Stick wax and hair powder in it, so it's choppy and it looks fab (or I think it does anyway haha)

Can someone post a photo or a link to a photo of a short haircut with wax and hair powder in it? I think that’s maybe where I’ve been goi g wrong in the past with my helmet hair.

I always used to take this picture to the hairdressers.

One problem with shorter hair is that you can get mistaken for a man.

I struggled growing my hair after I had kids,
My hair is naturally fine and mousey brown in colour, dyed it red got bored, bleached the shit out of it- dyed it pink, side long fringe, shaved one side- then got pixie cut with blonde highlights - looked really nice but now I want a shaggy type bob and my hair won't grow!
In essence if you want to cut your hair be prepared for midway when it's too short to put up but too long to put behind your ear! Sorry!
