I tried Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless

Surely I must be applying it wrong?

It is so cakey. It exposes all of my velous hair on my face, showcases my pores and it gives a streaky appearance.

It's pretty matte. Which would be fine if it wasn't so cakey.

No matter what I do. It just doesn't blend.

I have a normal skin type, so I think this would be more suited to an oily skin type?

I apply with a stipple brush. Very lightly.
Any advice on where I am going wrong?

Is this the liquid? Or the powder in a compact?
I know I mixed the liquid with either tinted moisturiser/ bb cream/ foundation, with 25% charlotte til liquid to the bb cream. The powder is just powder? It's great for me, but I have oily skin

yellow25 · 15/08/2021 20:45

I experienced the same! Also have normal skin. I didn't like Estée Lauder double wear either. I tried applying with beauty blender and stippling brush but with both I just looked cakey.

I like Nars luminous weightless or IT CC or Mac studio sculpt for something creamier and fuller coverage.

The Hollywood flawless filter by CT is worth trying though!

ReginaaPhalange · 15/08/2021 20:45

Straight to the point, it's shite.

I bought it (along with about £300 of her stuff..... I fell for her amazing marketing) and it's all shite! The main ingredient in her powders are talc!!!! Don't get me started on the pillow talk mascara!!!

Limitedhelp · 15/08/2021 22:25

Yes it's the liquid one.
How disappointing...

I had magic a couple of years ago and liked that. Moved in to ilia, which was lovely, but a little too light. So wanted to try this new CT one.

Is CT Light wonder any good? I like glow/dewy finish

I tried Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless

Armani luminous touch is very good

Limitedhelp · 15/08/2021 22:28

I was unsure what exactly Flawless filter is @yellow25?

Is it a stand alone foundation? Or just a primer.
I like good coverage. But not a matte cakey finish

Tinkles78 · 15/08/2021 22:34

Yep I fell for the hype too and had exactly the same experience as you with it! It also oxidised really badly. So disappointed cause my friend raves about it!

I have yet to find better than Estée Lauder double wear Light for my combination skin.

rjacksmiss · 15/08/2021 22:41

Make sure your skin is really well moisturised and apply with a brush then blend with a damp beauty blender/sponge. Set with some power. The CT powder is blooming amazing!!

Lelivre · 16/08/2021 07:21

I haven’t tried it.

Before giving up dermaplane (shave) your face and use a beauty blender.

Teinte idole ultra wear by Lancôme can be put in so thin and still cover very well. I can’t imagine anything better if you want invisible lasting cover.

yellow25 · 16/08/2021 08:14

It's definitely not a stand alone foundation, but it isn't really just a primer either I don't think. On hot days in the summer I wear it on its own. I don't actually wear a primer, so I put it on top of my moisturiser before foundation and find it just gives me a really good glow. If I'm feeling a bit extra I will dab some on my cheek bones to give a bit of extra highlight. I have no idea what it's supposed to be though!

pinkgin85 · 16/08/2021 08:16

I recently tried a sample of Giorgio Armani luminous Silk and I'm blown away! It blends sooooo well and sits like my own skin! So light with amazing coverage. Definiteky buying a full size now

TootsieBootsie · 16/08/2021 08:29

I felt the same with this! After all the hype around it, taking ages for go for colour match as I'm nowhere near a store, it was cakey!
Thr CT light wonder is much nicer, lighter and dewey finish but less coverage.
For more coverage I've got the new lauder one (double wear also cakey for me!) Futurist hydra something to be better.

On a different note, does anyone use the NARS tinted moisturiser?

Geamhradh · 16/08/2021 08:44

It's not you. It's CT.
I had a sample and thought it was amazing- bought a full bottle and it was gloppy, thick, cakey and made Doublewear look subtle and light.

yellow25 · 16/08/2021 09:05

I love the nars tinted moisturiser, surprisingly good coverage and feels really hydrating too. Definitely recommend.

Limitedhelp · 16/08/2021 09:08

Ok update!
I mixed the Airbrush flawless with my Heliocare gel beige tinted SPF. Then applied with stipple brush

It looks better. More dewy. Slightly more cakey than I like. But I could make do for a few weeks. Hate wasting things...

Thank you- I think I will try flawless filter next time!

How did you decide shade? I live so far away from any big stores that sell it!

texasss · 16/08/2021 09:17

I've tried various CT stuff over the years and it's all been a bit crap. Their mascara actually caused my lashes to break off.

I find you can't go wrong with Laura Mercier or Nars.

emmaluggs · 16/08/2021 09:23

I had the same, my skin needs to be really well prepped, however the biggest changer was applying it with a beauty sponge, I used to apply it with a brush and it just looked awful, but with a good primer and the beauty sponge it applies lovely

yellow25 · 16/08/2021 09:26

findation.com

I find this site really reliable! I live rurally so can rarely "pop" anywhere for samples. I have to do extensive research then pray!

Yes! Same here, I was going to suggest it. I've not had a shade match wrong from there yet.

I just stick with CT Magic Foundation the airbrush one went orangey on me, I must be really oily or something? The power is nice. I don't think much of the light wonder foundation.

makeupmania · 17/08/2021 09:45

What is the pillow talk lip gloss like?

Amortentia · 17/08/2021 14:24

This foundation does seem to get bad reviews. I have very dry skin and put off trying this for ages, I was shocked that I really liked it. Although, I do dermaplane and use loads of serums and moisturising primers before I put any make-up on my face. Weirdly, I think I may be the only person who doesn't think much of Armani Silk. I have found that if lots of people like a foundation I will usually hate it. This is not a foundation for anyone who wants a dewy face.

ReginaaPhalange · 18/08/2021 19:53

@makeupmania shite. Sticky mess. Don't waste your money x

CabbagesGreen · 18/08/2021 19:57

I don't know what happened to mine but it all leaked out the tube even when id been really careful to close it.

Lipsticks are good. But don't just go straight for the pillow talk shade, it doesn't suit everyone.

ThatIsQuiteACrane · 18/08/2021 20:02

I bought that Hollywood Flawless Filter after reading rave reviews and feel it was total waste of money.

The little application stick thing is unhygienic and worse than useless. The actual stuff itself is inoffensive but doesn't actually do anything. I've tried it alone and it was just see-through. I've tried mixing it with foundation and whilst it doesn't offend me it doesn't really do much. I don't get the hype.

The best new foundation I've tried recently is No7 hydra luminous. I've replaced my ELDW with it and prefer it (and the price). It's quite thick but hasn't gone cakey with me at all. I've never used No7 until recently but I am a convert to this foundation.
