Is this a bad idea to wear for engagement party?

Hello lovely S&B ladies,

Hoping for some advice in case I inadvertently upset a bride to be tomorrow evening!

I'm attending a big engagement party tomorrow night and was thinking of wearing this long, slightly oversized white blazer with a red mini dress and white block heels. I know the bride to be is wearing a full white jumpsuit so I'm worried I will look like I'm trying to upstage?

From the front my red dress is very bright I'm just concerned that from the back it might look like I'm wearing a white dress. Hopefully will be having a bit of a dance later on and will have my blazer off!

Photo attached of the blazer! Thank you

For an engagement party? I’d say that’s fine unless she’s a particularly touchy person.

If she's wearing white for her engagement party, I'd avoid a mostly white outfit.

My only thought is that if I wore that I'd get DC fingerprints on it before I left the house and then once there I'd be guaranteed to drop food and wine down it. I'm not a white clothing kinda girl Blush

I don’t see a problem at all - an engagement party isn’t a wedding!

GemmaRuby · 13/08/2021 14:09

As you know she’s wearing white, I personally wouldn’t wear it, unless you’re planning to take it off as soon as you get there.

Yeah it's a bad idea. Engagement party, hen do, wedding... avoid white for them all. It's the bride's colour.

Suprima · 13/08/2021 14:30

I wouldn’t. It’s her engagement party!

Out of all of the colours you could wear, why would you choose to wear a mainly white outfit? No doubt posters will call her bridezilla if she gets upset or has an issue with it Confused God forbid someone wants to be bridal themed at their engagement. It’s no different to the bride wearing a white outfit on her hen.

Don’t wear that jacket. Let her be the star of the show in her white jumpsuit, hopefully she’ll only get married once!

Thanks so much all - I'll wear a different jacket as I'd hate hate hate to upset her or look like I was trying (and definitely failing might I add) to upstage or annoy the bride to be!

In hindsight writing a mumsnet post about it should have told me all I needed to know Blush
