Help me find flat shoes to wear with this dress

Hello, I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks and I'm struggling to find a nice dressy pair of low / flat shoes to wear with this dress. DH is short and prefers me not to tower over him in heels, plus the wedding venue will require a lot of walking about so flats aren't the worst idea.

Any suggestions are appreciated. If it helps to paint a bigger picture, I am early 30s, size 12, fair skin and hair. Budget is £100 and I'm a size 6 shoe.

Look at Bobbies, so many beautiful shoes. They have a sale at the moment too.

I’ve always liked the look of Bobbies but couldn’t justify the price. I’d probably give them a go for a special occasion though!

Oh, beat me to it Yorkshire!

carrotcakeconnoisseur · 12/08/2021 20:49

Thank you! They are lovely. I'm just out of touch with how to dress up - I'm assuming I will need a bag to match the shoe I choose?

I have the charlize flats and love them but they took a bit fo breaking in.

Yorkshirepuddingforever · 12/08/2021 20:53

Oops posted too soon! The suede or leather shoes from bobbies all a dream from first wear though.

TheWatersofMarch · 12/08/2021 20:56

I absolutely love the dress btw

Thank you, I love it too - but I just have no idea how to style it.

Think your dh needs to get over himself tbh so you can wear the heels that dress was clearly intended for!

carrotcakeconnoisseur · 12/08/2021 21:09

I'm actually swaying towards just wearing heels. I tried it on again and the hem comes right down almost to my ankle. I just don't know if flats will give it the same look

I agree, that its HIS issue he is short or can't cope with a taller female!

What about a low wedge? I find they are more comfortable and stable for walking in that a thin, pointy heel.

Elouera · 12/08/2021 21:14

As a side, has HE considered buying those shoes with invisible lifts for short men?

ZealAndArdour · 12/08/2021 21:18

Wedges are always far more comfortable for walking in, but will still give you the lift and height that the dress needs.

carrotcakeconnoisseur · 12/08/2021 21:26

Oh that's interesting, I hadn't thought of navy. I just assumed I'd go for a metallic

Matching bag and shoe is a bit dated. To go with that dress use one neutral and one colourful, so e.g. gold shoes and pink bag.

AustinPowerful · 12/08/2021 21:43

That dress is gorgeous- it definitely needs a heel!

JaninaDuszejko · 12/08/2021 21:44

Oh, just realised the top of the dress is navy. Navy is a good choice, not least because you can often get navy accessories quite cheaply in the sales.

carrotcakeconnoisseur · 12/08/2021 21:46

I was considering a navy fascinator to go with it. So many options!

OP posts:
Elouera · 12/08/2021 22:14

The navy is already in the top, so I'd use the pink or even cream as a fascinator colour. Otherwise, your top half, including head actually looks black/dark. When I saw the pics, I initially thought the top was black. I wouldn't also have a navy fascinator.

Miliao · 12/08/2021 22:18

Definitely don’t match the shoes and bag, and a fascinator is very dated. How about metallic strappy sandals?
