In summer mostly wear vintage dresses and converse
. I really do not like winter dressing and coulours and do not know how to dress in winter.
Anyone got any ideas on how to dress if you like vintage / landgirl/ 50s look please .. especially ( flat) footwear. I am in my 50s and docs seem to.' Kill' a frock!. Also what tights ro wear .? Am small and cloured tights make me look like a childrens tv presenter but black are too harsh.!

Oh I love winter dressing! Maybe because I love knitwear so much!
I agree black tights can be jarring with brighter lighter colours but I don't mind black tights if the dress is black or the print has black in it but. I would pair with a hand knitted wool aran cardigan or jumper and ankle boots. Do you wear jeans or trousers? You could go for a lovely hand knitted fairisle jumper with a nice pair of trousers or vintage jeans with a head scarf! If you go for true vintage in natural fabrics and fibres you not really go wrong! I love European vintage too like Norwegian knitwear that will last years.. If you choose one with a bit of black it will go with the dress and tights too! Sometimes a really simple outfit like jeans and a roll neck can look amazing with a bit of lippy and a nice scarf in your hair. Of course a wool coat is essential too. I prefer something a bit swingy but not too long.

Summer lovely suggestions from Weetabeat , I'm looking forward to wearing a traditional Aran cardigan I bought a couple of months back, once it gets cooler. A Syrian one could look good with dresses?
I like grey and navy opaques as alternatives to black. And what about some neat chelsea boots if you don't want anything to chunky?

Some lovely suggestions!

And a shorter cardigan!!!
I don't know what a Syrian one would be like, possibly very nice too.

Do you know Adele Mildred? She’s a designer / milliner who has a very cool vintage style… a little bit gothic. She works a lot with Dita Von Teese. If you Google her you’ll find her in a range of closed toe shoes with vintage skirts, dresses and suits. She wears sheer tights or tonal to her outfit as the attached picture shows. You could wear trousers though if you went “land girl” - the Carrier Company and Old Town both do wide leg trousers that you could pair with a blouse and cardigan… maybe leave out the wellies though.

I wear brogue style ankle boots sometimes. Mine look a bit like this

I don’t wear my DMs with dresses as I have skinny legs and big feet.
I also wear woolly tights in the winter, usually brown or stone coloured
