The best red lipstick. Proper red, red.

It's a gift. I need the ultimate red lipstick. A proper red colour, not a gloss, or one that you sharpen, a lipstick.

Has anyone come across the perfect red lipstick. Ideally I'd like to spend £30 ISH.

MAC Ruby Woo

I use pirate by Chanel, maybe number 99. Am I the only one who hated Ruby Woo? Great colour but awful formula, it literally dragged across my lips like a dry crayon and dried my lips out for days.

I would have a look at Lisa Eldridge

Another one to say MAC Ruby Woo. Love it, and find it works with most colourings. I always go back to this red (I've tried a lot!).

Whichever you go for, make sure to get the lip pencil too, makes all the difference .

@firealarmhell I've found lip primer is an absolute must for MAC. I also can't use it everyday sadly.

I actually can't use their foundation/skin products as I find it strips my skin dry to the point of peeling.

Oh no, I hate it with a passion. Dry, draggy, wears off in an odd way. It’s the most overrated lipstick ever, in my opinion.

I have dior 999 in normal lipstick form which I don't find to be long lasting and then again in dior rouge liquid which goes on great and is hard wearing

I like the dior gold package ones diorific, they have great texture and long lasting. I like all of them but icon is good.

Chanel Rouge Coco in Gabrielle

Absolute winner, perfect shade of blue-toned red, not brash at all, just proper, serious red. Smells amazing, feels amazing, packaging is spot on, feels luxurious just to handle.

Chanel Pirate number 99

ChocolateRiver · 08/08/2021 16:50

@firealarmhell I don’t like Ruby Woo either, find it far too drying.

Likethewinenotthelabel · 08/08/2021 17:11

@LemonSwan yes! I came to suggest Fenty Stunna too. It’s a beautiful, universally flattering red, stays put all day and isn’t drying (at least for me - and I found both matte MAC and Chanel reds quite drying).

Hourglass icon - the packaging is fab and best of all, you just pay for replacement lipstick at a cheaper cost rather than a full unit each time.
