Back to work soon.. Shoes to go with Mom Jean style trousers (not trainers)

Soon will be back in the office after maternity leave!

I need to get some shoes to go with trousers in the cut of mom Jeans. As these are most flattering and comfortable on me.. or high waisted trousers that are currently on trend. I don’t want to look Mumsy!

So I wear them ankle length. So boots probably won’t look right.

Our office is very chilled but I don’t want to wear trainers or heels…
Give me some inspiration please!!

Loafers.

Luckyelephant1 · 04/08/2021 11:47

Yes loafers or flat mules, both are on trend currently.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 04/08/2021 11:52

Plain white clean pumps. Plimsolls/Daps are totally different from trainers AFAIC.

People will say loafers or ballet flats but they are really not my style. Loafers go hand in hand with safe upper middle class haircuts to me- Rachel Johnson and Clare Balding. Nothing wrong with that but it isn't me.

Flippyflops2021 · 04/08/2021 13:51

Thanks for suggestions. Loafers are not really my style actually, in the link above.

I normally wear Nike AF1 type things..

Hadn’t thought I’d pump type things. Definitely white would look good. If I keep them clean!!

I wear mine with DM monkey boots in winter - they hit just at the ankle bone rather than higher up the calf. I also wear knee-high socks under cropped trousers (all styles) and jeans when it gets colder. The M&S school girls ones in grey, navy, and black are good for work, and I have stripy ones for not-work.

I'm an AF1 girl too...not a fan of the loafers on that link either but if you Google chunky loafers you might find ones more your style?

Definitely no ballet flats, IMO they are very dated, early noughties era fashion.

Tinkletwat · 04/08/2021 14:09

Ballet flats are back in according to the fashion mags. Not for me though, the back pain first time round was enough to put me off them for life.

I’ll have to pinch some of DD1’s school socks!

Just looked at Chunky type loafers. These could be a possible.

My year 8 daughters school shoes are probably what I’m looking for I’ve just realised! Especially for winter. And maybe white lace ups of some description for warmer days ..

Really liking getting the suggestions thanks

What about these kind of espadrilles/Toms style shoes? I have some flat ones for work which are extremely comfy and fit smart/casual work vibes.

Flippyflops2021 · 04/08/2021 19:02

Yes that’s a good summer option

Chunky brogues or DM shoes is what I'll be wearing with mine.

Stevie77 · 04/08/2021 21:14

Chunky brogues?

OP, can you link to the trousers you got? Need new ones for the upcoming back-in-the-office days

thedevilinablackdress · 04/08/2021 22:03

Something like this would be my dream chunky brogue @Stevie77

Flippyflops2021 · 05/08/2021 11:11

Definitely liking the slightly wedged brogues. They look comfortable too.

@Stevie77 I haven’t bought new ones. So can’t really link. But mainly they come from H&M. The hm Jeans always fit me amazingly which is handy!

These are my jeans I think.
