Those of you with tall husbands - where do they shop please?

My husband is 6'4" and slim (32/33" waist - medium in T-shirts) Very slim long arms and legs - even with years of weight training his arms are in his words "weedy" - I think he looks hot but I know he'd feel so much better about himself in nice fitting clothes.

He has such a job finding:

  • trousers/jeans that aren't too baggy on his legs. Even most shops "slim" are loose fitting on him.
  • t-shirts that are long enough to stay tucked in (he commented today that he wished he had bodysuit tops like the one I had on)
  • underpants/jeans that aren't old man but are not flashing his bum crack if he has to bend for something.

I think being the generation we are any jeans that don't sit low on his hips just feel wrong to him.

If any of you have advice for shops to try please I'm so keen to hear. He likes to stay reasonably fashionable. M&S slim fit long length t-shirts work well so at least he has those but so many areas still for him to find stuff he likes and is comfortable in.

Off to google tall celebs and see where they wear their jeans.

DS is the same, gets Levis and chinos from Next think he also shops in Burton too.

Jjacobb · 03/08/2021 20:33

My 6.6 dh and 6.7 ds get most of their clothes online from Jacamo

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/08/2021 20:34

Calvin Klein pants and T shirts he gets plain ones from Fruit of the Loom.

chipsandgin · 03/08/2021 20:36

ASOS tall, Next and also Carharrt do 32” waist with 35” leg trousers (the WIP cargo are nice - pricey but indestructible & last forever!).

chipsandgin · 03/08/2021 20:37

It is frustrating though that most ‘tall’ ranges also assume ‘big’, the search for 32” waist & 35” or 36” leg is tricky. Levi’s also do jeans in slim waist/long leg, worth searching eBay for as there are often bargains in that size.

WeeM · 03/08/2021 20:43

DH is taller than yours with really long legs. Jack Jones do extra long jeans (online only) and they come in a range of styles-these are where my dh gets most of his. Next also good for extra length in jeans/trousers. 2Tall is a great website that specialises in stuff for tall slim men-they sell everything!

My DHs height is more in his legs so he doesn’t struggle with tops too much but he finds Boden, jack jones, jack wills all fit well (he doesn’t tuck them in though).

Greytminds · 03/08/2021 20:44

My DH is 6’5’’ and sounds like a very similar build. There are so few options available!

Essentially he can only buy jeans from G-star, where they do a 36 inch leg. There are some garish styles to avoid but also some great well-cut simple styles and they often do chino style trousers too. He’s also had a jacket from there in the past - finding jackets that aren’t too short in the arms is a nightmare! A Tommy Hilfiger coat was good on length / arms too but not sure if that’s consistent across their branded clothes.

T-shirts he regularly buys from Allsaints. They are slim fit enough to look fashionable. Also a brand called penguin that tend to be a slim fit. I just constantly keep my eyes open for slim fit longer t-shirts in any shop I go in as they can pop up in unexpected places - I think he’s had the odd Zara shirt and t-shirt but most of their clothes wouldn’t typically fit.

Pyjama bottoms from M&S. Boden used to do a longer length / unfinished seam in some trousers but not looked recently to see if they still do.

Otherwise it’s a bit hit and miss - sometimes the odd thing from Next or M&S or a rummage in TK Maxx is as good as it gets!

Watching with interest because I have a 6' 3" husband and two teenagers who are looking likely to be even taller.

B1rdinthebush · 03/08/2021 20:46

My husband is 6'8" and swears by Uniqlo and Gap.

Miseryisabutterfly · 03/08/2021 20:51

Dh is 6’3” and gets most of his clothes from Carhartt.

Greytminds · 03/08/2021 20:52

I had not heard of Jack Jones @WeeM, looks promising!

icklepiglet · 03/08/2021 20:53

My husband is 6'5 and buys his jeans from next and his work trousers from craghoppers. He has always struggled with tops riding up but has recently discovered Lands End poloshirts which come in a long fit. Finally no more builders bum!

ActonSquirrel · 03/08/2021 20:56

Tall male relative ... likes fatface polo shirts and t-shirts.

Also likes Crew Clothing polo shirts. Don't know about the trousers though.

GCAcademic · 03/08/2021 20:57

@Jjacobb

My 6.6 dh and 6.7 ds get most of their clothes online from Jacamo
DH, who is 6’5”, also shops there, especially for shirts.
Cakeandslippers · 03/08/2021 21:00

My husband is 6'4 and slim but athletic. 2tall.com is excellent, clothes designed for men who are tall but not big. The tshirts and hoodies are great. The jeans are good but my DH is a cyclist and has big thighs so different to yours, but he's a 32 waist and I don't think they look like they'd be overly baggy on a slimmer leg.

WeeM · 03/08/2021 21:00

@Greytminds

I had not heard of Jack Jones *@WeeM*, looks promising!
Honestly @Greytminds Jack Jones and 2Tall have been total game changers! My dh is a 38 inside leg! Boden have stopped their unfinished trousers which is a shame.
Onthebrink87 · 03/08/2021 21:05

My OH is also 6 4 and very slim. He wears levis boxers, nothing else - aside from that he still wears his trousers round his arse like he's a 15 yo skateboarder 😑

lurkingdh · 03/08/2021 21:06

I've had a few bits and bobs from www.hockerty.uk/en-uk/

Online made-to-measure, so at least you know they'll fit. They do chinos and polos as well as the usual suits.
The only downside really is that they take weeks to arrive.

AlwaysLatte · 03/08/2021 21:10

My husband like these jeans from Hilfiger, they're not too baggy but nice and long in the leg. Also crew shirts etc are a good length.he's also 6'4.

Those of you with tall husbands - where do they shop please?
Perching · 03/08/2021 21:11

Levi for jeans
Gant for the rest.
Canali for smart, it has a more generous cut than other Italian brands, I suspect aimed at the american market.

mousehouse123 · 03/08/2021 21:14

My husband has had good stuff recently from Raging Bull - look at specific big and tall section on their website. Definitely longer length body and tall enough for him at 6.8, although he's broad too so might not be so good for OP, but may be of interest to others.

dippywhentired · 03/08/2021 21:38

My husband is 6'5" with a 36" leg so most shops like Next, M&S, etc. don't make long enough trousers. He also complains that tall clothing brands assume that tall men=wide and he's very slim. He buys all his work clothes (chinos, shirts with longer sleeves, etc.) from Charles Tyrwhitt and they fit really nicely.

Ipanemama · 04/08/2021 14:15

Jeans from Armani and tops from Paul Smith. Expensive brands but they last and last and seem to fit him well. He is 6ft 4 and slim build.

EdinaMonsoon · 04/08/2021 14:27

Paul Smith is cut for tall, slim men. DH & DS1 & 2 all wear his clothes - they're all 6'2" & slim. Eldest DS in particular has very long arms and regular high street brands aimed at 20-somethings just don't come up long enough. They are expensive (the PS range is cheaper) but they last for ever and are beautifully made. He uses a lot of Italian fabrics & so the colours are intensely rich & rarely fade. Plus you don't see them everywhere.

bigdecisionstomake · 04/08/2021 18:14

Another vote for 2tall.com. My eldest DS is 6 foot 5 inches and very slim and we really struggled until we found 2tall. Lots of choice of leg length and also long arm and body length too. DS lives in their chinos, jeans, t-shirts and hoodies and has recently had some of their sports wear and walking trousers. Only criticism is the designs aren't really exciting but DS is happy just to find stuff that fits him properly. A little on the pricey side but very good quality and long lasting and quick delivery generally. Wholeheartedly recommend them.
