I think that's the metal underneath the silvery bits that have worn off

My watch has done that . It was only £12 but a rennie mackintosh style one and I guess I'm stuck with the two-tone look now

well whatever you do don't try the jewellery dip stuff
strips all the silver-a-like right off leaving a right mess
