I'm not quite sure this belongs in here because it most certainly is not beautiful or stylish but I thought the knowledge base would be here.

I'm planning on hanging about hairdressers tomorrow as DS wants a 'Foden Trim' from what I understand some weird short bowl cut...anyway they won't be able to bleach it as no time for a patch test...so what do I need to bleach his hair at home? Most importantly what do I need that I can purchase from Tesco or at a push Boots.

Tldr: how do I/what do I use to bleach hair?

Hello, I'm no hair expert, but I just saw this on Twitter and thought of you! The poster recommends products and techniques.

Let me know you can't access the link, I'll post screenshots.

Thank you so much, I've been googling but that is the best info I've seen

Oh my days you are brave
It's basically bleached then toned white ... I think

AndNobbyDancing · 09/07/2021 21:29

Brave...stupid...but its not my hair. I've been searching, I get the bleach but what is toned?

OP posts:
66babe · 09/07/2021 21:31

When you bleach hair it will be yellow
You then use a toner to create the look you want ...
Silver / ash / warm blond
Whatever ... I think that lad has white or maybe platinum toner on
Maybe a hairdresser would advise you on what to try ?

AndNobbyDancing · 09/07/2021 21:37

Thank you. I will chat to the hairdresser (would much rather they did it but not enough time for test) I know it all seems a bit daft but will mean the world to my boy

My boy is growing his into a Grealish 😀

66babe · 09/07/2021 21:43

@AndNobbyDancing have you done a patch test yourself ? Has he had hair dye before ?
Sorry to be a party pooper but if you Google reaction to hair dye you'd be horrified
I've been bleaching mine for nearly 20 years without any problems
( apart from the dry straw like really poor condition )

This is the problem. Can get a cut tomorrow but not a colour as need patch test. Plan is to get home colour tomorrow morning and patch test, then get cut and then home colour Sunday.

Did you get bleach from tesco?

This would be more of a plan as with a band he'd be pretty close!

Did you get this sorted? I'm a hairdresser so can advise if you need it x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/07/2021 20:54

Bleach London - look t their website to see what you need .
Various bleaches and toners

I know Superdrug sell it , just Googled , Boots do too

I use the silver shampoo/conditioner on my ancient grey hair .

66babe · 11/07/2021 17:27

How did it go @AndNobbyDancing
Did your lad get his hair how he wanted it ?

AndNobbyDancing · 11/07/2021 18:38

Well, he has the cut (which looks as you may imagine) and currently sitting with the bleach dye suggested in Boots, I've never dyed anything so fingers crossed.

Ah bless him
I bet all the lads will be asking for that cut now
When my boys were young it was a cut called " meet me by McDonalds" I thought they were joking but ... no 🙄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/07/2021 20:00

Not a fan of Grealish's hair but I do like his beard .
My DS is only a couple of years younger , his beard is like JG s

Actually got me thinking how many young men now have beards .
In my day it was clean shaved or Miami Vice designer stubble .
And stubble was a nope to snog , you got stubble rash Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/07/2021 20:02

Ah the Meet Me At McDonalds hair Grin
Better than Curtains though ...
