What shoes/boots would you wear on a first date at this time of year? With jeans..

Just that really. What would you go for?

I've been wearing converse but I want to change it up a bit. I'm really out of touch fashion wise atm!

No boots in July! I'd just wear whatever make you comfortable.

WunWun · 06/07/2021 13:02

Well I'm looking to buy some that I feel comfortable in... so this thread is more for inspiration!

Boots? What is the weather? 😳

If walking, loafers. If not walking (much), sandals.

Happy36 · 06/07/2021 13:04

Converse are nice too.

ElderMillennial · 06/07/2021 13:14

Trainers

Bluntness100 · 06/07/2021 13:15

What’s the date? Walking, pub, dinner?

Divebar2021 · 06/07/2021 14:20

It also depends on what outfit these shoes are going with. I would probably be wearing a midi dress, jeans or wide legged trousers for a coffee date in which case I’d wear flat sandals ( Birkenstock’s Arizona ) or a number of different trainers. “Fisherman” sandals are cropping up everywhere so they seem pretty trendy but I’m not sure how long that will last. If it’s a posher dinner date then I would wear some block heeled snakeprint sandals from Jigsaw that I’ve just bought. I don’t really do heels anymore. I’ll try and find pictures.

Divebar2021 · 06/07/2021 14:29

Oh I missed the whole “with jeans” part, sorry. The flat sandals are available in chunkier versions at places like Arket & Warehouse. The ones shown are Russell and Bromley. I would still wear the Jigsaw sandals with slightly cropped wider leg / boyfriend jeans.

Well, looking out at the rain, I'd wear boots...

seensome · 06/07/2021 15:02

I'd wear my Vejas with jeans if it was a date time date, or dress with sandals on a hot day, slim fitting trousers and heels for evening.

WunWun · 06/07/2021 15:53

What kind of weather are you all having?! Its mostly rain here.. I meant ankle boots btw, not thigh length or wellies! No difference to converse really.

It will probably just be a drink in the evening. It will definitely be a jeans thing though!

I’d wear tan suede ankle boots - a bit more summery.

seensome · 06/07/2021 17:43

I don't think that's the most alluring look for a first date and in the evening you would want to look like you've made an effort.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/07/2021 20:00

It is absolutely pissing down here, so sandals and suede boots would be a definite no! I’ve been wearing high waisted tapered jeans with a tucked in tee, and leather trainers - Adidas Stan Smith and Continental 80, or Veja Esplar. That’s for lunch or coffee with friends though, not dates, and also I don’t own or wear heels.

Dancingonmoonlight · 07/07/2021 01:40

What is your usual style OP? And what are you wearing on your date? You said jeans? Are you wearing a shirt, tshirt or strap ph top?

Depending on above either sandals or trainers?
If it’s raining, sandals would be a bizarre choice.
I’d go with your usual style tbh.

EBearhug · 07/07/2021 01:43

In the current weather? Waders and wetsuit, though I recognise that will only appeal to a very niche market you may not wish to get involved in. Wink

Flat sandals or trainers

Nitgel · 07/07/2021 08:44

I dont mind wearing sandals in the rain. Better than soggy canvas trainers and too hot for leather

In this weather, I think sturdy dog walking boots.

And as I see lots of women wearing really clumpy shoes or short boots with dresses, it's a look that should work with just about everything you wear elsewhere on your body, and defeat the rain storms

And quick-dry fabric for as much of the rest of you as possible

(Perhaps going for a run with him might make for a good date, then rehydrate together?)

My feet would get too cold, and I would be utterly miserable.
Sooverthemill · 07/07/2021 10:01

I'd wear leather trainers like Veja or Stan smith or any of the dupes

Sooverthemill · 07/07/2021 10:01

Ps hope the date goes well

Divebar2021 · 07/07/2021 10:01

I would wear sandals if it was raining…assuming no great amount of walking was involved. If you’re just sitting in a bar you’re unlikely to freeze to death.
