Lips - is this what people are aspiring to these days?

An old boyfriend has shared photos to advertise a friend's beauty salon. I know I'm not their target audience, but I'm still shocked that this is what women are supposedly looking for these days.
I do get that if you have thin lips it'd be nice to have them plumped up a bit. But these are so clearly fake.
Am I just an old fuddy-Duddy with no idea?

I hate them, I hate them, I hate them!

They look ridiculous. I was watching Love Island the other day (yes, yes, I know!) and most of the girls have awful lip fillers. One was kissing one of the boys and she looked like she was going to suck him up! 🤮

I wished the trend for them would disappear along with stupid eyelash extensions as they also look ridiculous.

Everyone looks like Pete Burns nowadays.

I think the ‘natural look’ is making a comeback thankfully.

There were some shockers on Glow Up. It seemed every series had to have at least one fugly MUA; lip fillers definitely helped with that.

I don't know why people think they look good. Carol Vorderman is another who's ruined herself with them - she can now barely speak and often seems to slur.

I know this is Style & Beauty and everyone is welcome to their own opinion of what those things are, but making a thread with the aim of mocking and belittling other womens appearance seems mean spirited. I can only imagine the vitriol aimed at me (rightly) if I created a thread to make fun a trend I thought was frumpy...

There's a big difference between taking the piss out of someone's natural appearance, and pointing out that some are undertaking procedures that make them look ridiculous.

I understand what you are saying summa but no one is born this way and it, for me, seems an odd thing to aspire to.

It may be considered beautiful now But it won’t always be and by then it will be too late for those who have damaged themselves irreparably. And that is an absolute shame.

I have no room to talk because I am frumpy and older with wonky brows that were over plucked when that was the fashion.

I don’t disagree with people making the best of themselves. I’m not sure this is that though.

YouTuber Gemma Louise Miles has massively over inflated lips. I'm not sure what she sees in the mirror, but I just think it's such a shame. She has the tell tale hard lumps on the inside, and no cupids bow at all. They look painful, and I'm sure they've affected her speech.

I'm not keen on them myself I think alot of young girls look very similar these days!
Massive eyebrows eyelashes so you can't even see their eyes and of course the huge lips
I can understand people wanting a little lip filler if they have thin lips but they are way over the top!

But considering something frumpy is hardly comparable to this. Women are injecting chemicals into their lips to make themselves look abnormal and that's a very different thing. Some of these lips are outside the realms of what someone might actually have naturally. It's not about making thin lips look plump, it is an exaggerated, strange look, carried out by unregulated practitioners in many cases. It's a trade which preys on the insecurity of often very young women.

I think the big lips trend is starting to die down.

They look like a baboons butthole. I think thin lips are beautiful, I think full (natural) lips are beautiful but when people have filler 99% of the time it looks fake, a weird shape and rubbery.
Even though there will be a whole group of people that say ‘mine look natural, you couldn’t even notice that I’d had them done’ etc etc

My over plucked 90s eyebrows that will not grow back would caution every young woman against face choices that might have lasting effects!

It might be trend now but it almost certainly won't be soon enough.

The older I get the more dismayed I am at injecting foreign bodies into beautiful youthful faces in order to conform. It's a shame

Well, everyone on Love Island this year seems to have lips like that. I would never actually tell someone they’re awful but personally I do think they’re hideous. I much prefer a natural look.

I think they just make the person look a bit gormless, tbh, as their mouth is always slightly open.

They look like the kinds of lips you'd find on a blow up sex doll. And I'm sure that's the point of them. Grim.
