Lips - is this what people are aspiring to these days?

An old boyfriend has shared photos to advertise a friend's beauty salon. I know I'm not their target audience, but I'm still shocked that this is what women are supposedly looking for these days.
I do get that if you have thin lips it'd be nice to have them plumped up a bit. But these are so clearly fake.
Am I just an old fuddy-Duddy with no idea? Confused

@LunaNorth

That mouth looks like a cervix.

@spittycup and @Miseryisabutterfly I think we can tell real full lips from fake sex lips!

The picture of misery's lips, they're beautiful and full but they look real because there are tiny lip lines, they also have a shape that looks real.

I have met people who naturally have full lips before. We all know it happens, some people are blessed, but trying to artificially create cervix lips is a different thing altogether.

Summerleaves · 06/07/2021 10:20

@Miseryisabutterfly

My lips for the record. I have been asked in the past if I have had filler, I was insulted by that.
They look completely natural, you don't get those lip lines on artificially plumped up lips.
spittycup · 06/07/2021 10:20

@spittycup and @Miseryisabutterfly I think we can tell real full lips from fake sex lips!

Sure, sometimes you can. But it's the comments on the size that bother me- about engorged this and that.

Because that's no longer about fake lips, it applies to all big lips.

ThePearlOfDumbarton · 06/07/2021 10:20

Lips 'sit' in a different way when they have been pumped full of whatever.

If you are black and have full lips, then your lips will be functioning as normal lips. They won't be protruding out, away from your teeth in a 'o' shape.

Give people a bit of credit for being able to distinguish between real lips and fake lips.

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/07/2021 10:21

Thanks @ThePearlOfDumbarton the blow job comment just hit a nerve!

ThePearlOfDumbarton · 06/07/2021 10:21

@spittycup ah, right, I see what you mean.

Yeh, full lips, if mother nature had given them to me, I would say thank you very much with delight.

It's the pursuit of them. Never works.

Just catching up on this thread. Comments from @spittycup @Miseryisabutterfly and @HumunaHey are exactly what I was trying to point out last night. You cannot mock a feature and isolate it to your intended target, anyone who feels they share that feature may feel offended too.

I'm very saddened that posters here are defending their unkind comments by hiding behind "but fillers are unethical, they set an unrealistic standard of beauty, they can be dangerous, there isn't proper regulation..." Those things are very true, but can anyone honestly say they think real change in the industry will be created by threads like this?

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/07/2021 10:22

Thanks @Summerleaves

ThePearlOfDumbarton · 06/07/2021 10:23

@Miseryisabutterfly

Thanks *@ThePearlOfDumbarton* the blow job comment just hit a nerve!
Are you looking to be offended? I just said to you that your lips are beautiful and look REAL.

If you think that your lips look like the lips in the photo posted in the OP just because they're full then you need to go to specspavers.

CatRamsey · 06/07/2021 10:23

Not rtft so sorry if its already been posted

TheVanguardSix · 06/07/2021 10:24

This is NOT an anti-full lips thread though. Posters are mistaken if they think this is about bashing full lips, which I myself have (getting thinner with age, which is a damn shame, but not enough to make me get shit filled into them).
This thread is anti fake-ass-jet-puffed-sex-doll lips.
And it's not the size that makes lips beautiful, it's the shape.

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/07/2021 10:26

@ThePearlOfDumbarton no I’m not looking to be offended. I just thanked you for your comment and explained my initial thoughts!

ThePearlOfDumbarton · 06/07/2021 10:27

@TheVanguardSix absolutely. Some shocking obfuscation going on here, or a race to be offended by something that doesn't apply.

If you're not pursuing the cervix shape lips the this thread shouldn't offend you.

RaraRachael · 06/07/2021 10:29

I think it's a hideous look and laughable tbh. It's not just me being an old fogey as my daughter is of the same opinion.
My friend has a beautiful daughter - 5 foot 10, size 10 model figure with a lovely face who has just had this done - WHY??

I think they will look back on photos and think WTF? - much as we did with flares and mullets in teh 70s Grin

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/07/2021 10:29

humuna

There is a world of difference between natural really full lips (which I too have) and smooth lips that do not fit someone’s face and look as though they are close to bursting.

The pictures of the natural full lips are beautiful. There is a world of difference between those and the more extreme side of lips which have been altered.

I maintain that it is a shame that women feel compelled to alter themselves past a point from which there is no return.

I have had babboon’s arse and bj lips levelled at me thank you and would not use those terms at anyone. Not quite sure why you included that in a response to my post.

You don’t know me or what I look like so please keep your eye rolling to yourself thank you.

Zenithbear · 06/07/2021 10:32

They look suspiciously like those brats dolls that the age group more likely have these fillers would have played with.
Personally I think they look awful but the trend is for fake everything. Those fake eyelashes are laughable.
I'm a fan of nice skin, good teeth, shiny hair and natural makeup. That kind of grooming takes enough effort.

Mrsjayy · 06/07/2021 10:33

The person I know is late 30s so it isn't just "younger women" who are getting them i genuinely don't understand the look at all, saying that some of the girls my daughter went to school with all look the same with the filled faces and lips these girls are 23 years old 😳

Beautiful3 · 06/07/2021 10:34

Eww it looks like an anus!

Inthesameboatatmo · 06/07/2021 10:37

What makes me laugh about these fake lips is that they're look bad from the front, but even worse from the side. Like a ducks beak.

Sunnyday321 · 06/07/2021 10:39

From memory ( biology lessons ) , lips swell slightly when sexually aroused. So I guess the trend is saying , here I am ready for you . Which is terribly sad as I'm sure the majority of girls having this are doing so just to conform to the latest fad.

InkieNecro · 06/07/2021 10:39

@Mrsjayy

I wonder what it feels like ? Is it numb or lumpy these are questions I was dying to ask but didn't! I mean It's their lips to do as they wish but why this "full" look ,
Weird to be honest. They don't feel like normal lips when kissing them, they don't reshape themselves to the other person's mouth like natural lips and they feel a bit smooth and sort of 'pushy' in that they are pushing on the other persons mouth rather than both mouths changing shape. Honestly it isn't the nicest feeling but maybe some people are into that?
Mrsjayy · 06/07/2021 10:43

Maybe people are into inkieNecro why inflict discomfort on yourself just for an aesthetic ? Makes no sense !

lollypoppi · 06/07/2021 10:49

Nothing to do with your age I agree looks horrible. I hate the plumped up duck lips. I'm sure a little looks good on someone that doesn't have much lips but it always seems excessive and over done.

Hardly any the girls on love island have natural lips. When they turn to the side I'm always like 😵 oh jeez what a mess!

GrumpyTerrier · 06/07/2021 11:41

Look at all the people on this thread pretending most of the comments arent just bitchy.

Yes there is a discussion to be had about pornification and pressure on women to look a certain way etc but saying that someone's lips look like they could unblock a toilet etc, isn't that.

In themselves, lip fillers arent a big deal. They are temporary and can be dissolved at any time. The majority who have fillers only have a bit and it looks natural (sorry all those who desperately want this to be untrue-- it is indeed, true).

Massive lips certainly wouldn't be the first ridiculous fashion that came and went. I personally think it looks bad (as do laminated brows and huge nails and wot not) but to many, it looks good. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc.

The world will definitely be better if we don't slate things just cos we dont like or understand them. Better to keep chipping away constructively at the pressures to look a particular way.
